I know that this question seems to be over played on the forum. I have scene ratings that the Kyro II Hercules 4500 64mb is better than the geforce II gts and in some cases performs better than the pro. But my question is that I already have a Creative Annihilator 2 Geforce 2 GTS and I was thinking of switching over to the Kyro II Hercules 4500. Would this be a smart switch? I would like that my 2D graphics were a little better and I have heard and read that the Kyro II has this. I can not afford a geforce III right now so that is not an option. I guess my question is would this be a switch that i would notice a difference or would i be wasting my time and money???

2d clarity is better on the Kyro2. They are pretty much on equal ground. If you have a fast cpu the Kyro2 is a good choice, it also offers faster FSAA performance and well as the image quality is better(in 3d everything is rendered in 32bit). The GF2 has the T&L going for it, but with a fast cpu it is really a moot point right now.

As much as I am in favor of the Kyro II, you would probably be wasting your money. The Kyro II has great 2D quality, to be sure, but you would only see a 10-20% gain (max) at the most in 3D games. And that, in my mind, does not justify the $112 you would pay for it. If 2D quality is really that important to you, then there's no better value card than the Kyro II. But you probably would not notice a difference in 3D.

Remember that this probably wouldn't be a $112 purchase! I'm pretty sure you could get at least $100 selling that GTS. So as a $12 purchase it may well be worth while just to experiment.
But everyone else is right, unless 2D is that important, then the difference in performance is negligable.

Go to the for sale/trade and see if you can't get someone to trade you straight across. Though the performance is near the same, it's always fun to try different things if you can do it cheaply enough.
