can you help me please? I simply cannot install my 4500 Kyro 11.

The system POSTs ok with the my old PCI card but as soon as I try using the Kyro 11 in the AGP slot the display is corrupt. The system boots in to W2K but the display is virtually unreadable. It is like venetian blinds across the screen. It is as if the monitor does not like the card or the AGP slot is not functioning properly. The card has been checked in another system and is fine. I am using a 5 year old Gateway/Vivitron 17" monitor.

W2K
MSI K7T266 BIOS 1.1
VIA 4in1 drivers + AGP 4.05
Kyro II 4500
256 crucial RAM
40 GB Maxtor
17"Gateway/Vivtron monitor

As I said it seems to me that the AGP slot is not functioning properly. The problem is there at POST. This means that the screen display is corrupt from the start and does not even offer a viewable screen from the start.
I have tried the Kyro "Help desk" and they did not help, all they suggest is an RMA but the card was checked and is OK I believe.
This is soooo frustrating!
Any ideas please.

get some air duster and shoot it into the agp slot, might have some dust in there messing up connections. or something. weird.

Just a thought, but did you uninstall your old video card drivers and set the machine to standard settings before you installed your Kyro? Also, check the bios..if you've had a PCI card running you might have accidentally turned off the AGP slot. I don't recall the name of anything..but check to make sure your bios settings are correct.

when does it corrupt? from the beggining, or does it happen once you log in as a user (or if no log on, when the desktop comes up)? If it doesn't happen till logon, then put the old card back in and load the kyro drivers and then switch out cards.

Also set the refresh rates to 60hz, the colors to 256, and and the screen to 640X480. These should be fairly safe settings.

You have to make sure that anything that has/had to do with your old graphics card is off your hd completly. Check the registry do a search for files on your hd. Graphics cards are getting more and more picky about being installed when there are still crap files left over from a previous graphics card.

ok Guys,
the screen display is corrupt from the start even at the American Meritrends screen.
But it is fine with the PCI card! Can I force an IRQ designation for the AGP slot? Whe n I look in device manger (using the PCI card ) I do not see any IRQ for the AGP slot. SHould I see one if the slot is not occupied.
I did remove the old card before trying to install.
Thank for the ideas,
Any more Please?
