I almost had to defend Manas airbase on the way home from Afghanistan. Apparently there was an attempted coup that night and the President of the country was possibly heading to the base.

#19 looks incredibly uncomfortable, especially if it's a long trip.
 
I was there for 1 day. I've never seen mountains so tall! Sad that they're closing the base, that's a country that I really would've liked to explore. The commercial airport had people that were a strange mish mash of mongols, Chinese, arab-looking people, and Russians. They had one flight that morning, no announcement when it was time to leave, people just got up and thronged to the gate, no order, old people pushing and shoving. It was great. I was pretty sure that there would be crates of chickens and cattle roaming freely on the plane, but alas I was disappointed.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. The caption said it was some religious ceremony but she just looks like she's having a good time. I don't think those old guys mind much.
