KVM users - what do you do about audio?

I have a KVM I use with 4 PC's. I'd like to get the audio switched as well. I don't want 4 sets of speakers around. What are other people doing? Why dosen't the KVM handle this too?

I just a y-adaptor from Radio Shack, not a problem, works well but it does get confusing sometimes which pc is making the noise.

Although the Y-adapter is probably the best choice, you might be able to just stick your output cable into the input port of the sound card. Never tried it, but it seems as though that might work. The drawback would be the other computer would have to be on all the time.....

I'd need three Y adapters for four machines, though. I was thinking more of a switch box of some sort...

You could go to Radio Shack and get a audio switch box and label the inputs the same as what the KVM switch is. You would have to buy 1/8" to RCA cables but it work the best for what you are trying to do.

Thanks for all the answers!

Nightowl, that's what I started to do. Time to finish the cabling...

Woodie, that's how I have it now, but I see increasing need for audio from some of the other PC's.

This seems to me like a common need in the low number of ports KVM's. Sure, I don't need it in my server rooms, but for the seriously eqipped home office...
