ok i posted This thread in OT but figured id get metter responce here

basically i need a KVM that will do 2 monitors between 2 diff comps. sounds simple. but the dual KVMs seem to cost at least 150$ which sucks cause a single KVM is liek 30$

anyone on this side of AT know of a cheaper dual KVM??

or do i have to just do 2 single KVMs and some ps/2 spliters

I have a cheap kvm switch that I use to switch 4 computers to one monitor, keyboard and mouse. It is a mechanical switch and was bought from a local shop for $40,00 including cables. I know that ditcorp sells them for about this same price.

Are these the same monitors you want to run at 1600x1200 at 75Hz? Some KVM switches REALLY don't like that high of a resolution. I would buy some good cables and a good KVM if I planned on doing this.... sometimes you'll see ghosting (from monitor to monitor)/blurriness due to the KVM at 1600x1200 with a crappy KVM.

Just a note: the Sony G420 has a built in video switch... (and it can run 1600x1200 at 85Hz). :)

yes these are the same monitors im currently running at 1600x1200 @ 75Hz on my current system. im building a second box and woudl like to be able to switch between the 2 and still use both monitors. this is why i I askerd about the Matrox cards

I realise that a cheap KVM will be just that CHEAP. im guessing im gonna have to spend at least 50$ per KVM for a single to single KVM and just buy 2 of them.

I just need to knwo what ones are good ones to buy

belkin has always been a good kvm for me to this day. IO Gear isn't to bad either. I am sure there are even better ones out there, but I have only have had experience with these two.
