Which company makes the best KVM-switches? The candidates that I come to think of are:

Belkin
Cybex
Addertech
Aten
D-Link

Did I miss any manufacturer, which beats these?

Could anyone recommend a specific model? My requirements are:

USB- and PS/2-support
Cross-platform PC and Mac
Two computers subject for controlling

Thanks!

All I have used are Belkin. They have been great so far. We have about 6 of them, and only 1 came in defective. The others are still working fine.

I have been using a Linksys 2-port KVM, which came with all the cables you need (gotta get the 2-port switch kit), and this thing rocks! Double tap the CTRL key to switch between machines makes things super simple, so you can hide the switch and not even have to touch it once its installed.....

I tried the Linksys 2-port and it did not work consistently for me. This thing runs from the power of the keyboard connection and sometimes it just did not seem to be getting power. So, I thought, "Ok, I'll hook up an AC adapter for power". But guess what? It does not even have a connection for an AC adapter. So, I returned it and got an IOGear Miniview SE which works great - with the Ctrl-Ctrl combination no less.

I've got a belkin omni-view if I remember the name right. Anyways, it's the new space-age looking design with audio and usb support. There are pricey but well worth the cash!

how about Iogear? their 4 port USB model comes with cables and seems to be a better value than those from Belkin

tom3 - In my above response, I indicated that I am running the IOGear Miniview SE (2-port). So far it's been great. The quality seems very good and the cables are of good quality.

If you're going to get a USB KVM switch, make sure you get one of the new generation ones just coming out now that are able to emulate the presence of your USB keyboard/mouse while switching. With the old USB KVM switches there was a couple second pause each time you switched. Now with this new one (I read an article that said IOGEAR was coming out with it, I believe) you'll get instant, seemless switching.

I also have a Linksys 2 port. I have never had a problem with it and we use it every day to toggle between my PC and the wifes laptop. Easy to use, came with all the wires... Was a no brainer for me.
