KVM substitute

I have been using 2 computers via a kvm switch and would like to use the DVI output on them but DVI kvm's cost a lot. Is there a way to run one computer with the DVI directly and then access the second computer via the home network or something so that I can utilize the entire interface as if on a KVM switch? Kind of like Go To My PC but quicker and seamless??
A second monitor and digital kvm would be too much $$ and take up to much room also. Thanks!!!
