KVM Question

I have a Belkin SOHO 4-port USB KVM & a Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro. Anyways they say on their website that the keyboard is supported, but when I set it up, only the basic keys work. Like the multimedia buttons on the top don't function. I checked in device manager and it's being reconized as a "Generic Keyboard", so I changed it manually to "Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro", but that changed nothing. Anyone know how to get this working?

BTW, I'm using Windows XP on the machine in question.

Does Belkin specifically state on the site that you will be able to use those additional keys?

no, it just says that the keyboard is supported. I was more wondering if anyone else with this setup (or something similar) has theirs working.

For what its worth I have my Microsoft Office Keyboard going through my KVM switch but its a different one than what you have. I am using the USB to PS/2 adapter so it hooks up to the PS/2 port on the switch and all the extra buttons work just fine. The only thing that I did that you may not have done is installed the actual software for the keyboad. If you didn't install the roughly 2megs worth of software from Microsoft then it may not work. Or on the same token just run the install CD on both computers. If you've already done this then I'm sorry it didn't help.

I did that, didn't help. I'm guessing your keyboard only has a USB plug (and then came with the adaptor)? That is how my mouse is (Intellimouse Optical), but the keyboard has both USB & PS/2 plugs coming off of it (I'm using the PS/2). I imagine it's all the same though, but it's nice to know that it IS POSSIBLE. Although now it just gives me a reason to keep trying :disgust:. After you installed the software did you have to reboot? I haven't yet, so that may be the issue. Maybe in a month from now when I do reboot it will work

wow thats pretty funny! I too have a belkin KVM not the same model although I cant see you having a problem with installing the software for your keyboard to work properly! Im almost possitive that you will have to reboot though because the keys only work when they are added to startup or if you manually open the program yourself!
