Had my setup running for 2 yrs without a problem:
400 watt silverstone PSU
athlon 3000+
Abit KV8-Max3
9800 pro
2 x 120 gig segate SATA in Raid 0
2 sticks 512 crucial DDR400
The board ran strong for 2 yrs. about two weeks ago I started getting random reboots. On the reboots I noticed my memory spd was 333. So I restarted and set bios parameters to SPD and it boots DDR400, but the computer is very unstable and constantly reboots.
When I first configured the machine I ran one stick of 512 crucial. One yr later I upgraded with another 512 stick. now after a full yr of the this config, the system is having issues.
I troubleshooted the issue and found it to be the newer crucial memory. As long as that was in the machine it will not boot to DDR400 spd and remain stable. I rma'd the stick and installed the replacment with the same random reboots. I borrowed and tried 2 separate memory brands and ONLY the crucial is having the issue - no issue with 2x512 corsair nor any issue with 2x256 kingston (both DDR400).
So I ask?
is this a board issue?
Why did this happen after 2 yrs of use?
Anyone had a similar issue with this board and a particular memory brand?
Suggestions to rememdy or pinpoint the issue?
