Kurt Russell in The Thing

Indeed.

I need a new version of the movie.

Last time I watched it I found out much to my dismay that I have the non-anamorphic DVD version. I don't know how I could have forgotten that I have a terrible version of one of my favorite movies. I should check to see if the blu-ray version is out and reviewed yet. I don't remember what I found out last time I looked that up.

Hmmm so both the US and the UK version on blu-ray look great but the US version is missing a ton of extra features?

UK version is in PAL so I can't use it with my PS3. I suppose I don't really care much about special features either.

Yeah, I decided to go ahead and buy it too.

I popped in my DVD version just to make sure it's as crappy as I remember it, and indeed it look bad enough on my monitor, let alone when it gets blown up for my projector.

I needed something around that price anyway to add to my cart so I could buy a new vacuum cleaner filter 😛 (exciting detail, I know)

Has Kurt Russel ever made a bad movie?

Big Trouble in Little China
The Thing
Stargate
Soldier

Dudes a machine.

Hard to say IMO. They both did an excellent job. That said, if Russel did the series and the series stayed closer to the Movie, it would have been a much different Series with a more serious tone.

The original and the Kurt Russell version were both excellent movies. Now if we could only say that about the "The Day the Earth Stood Still"........:disgust:

How could you say Overboard sucked? I bet if I turned on my TV right now I could find it playing on one channel or another. As a matter of fact, it is on A&E in about an hour. I am amazed that they play this hunk of shit on TV almost every week.

The Thing should be in anyone's top 10 horror movie list. Quite possibly at the top.

Peace

hehe, Overboard is rather underwhelming and mediocre. I wouldn't say it "sucked" though, there are many far worse movies out there. I'd just not Add it to my Kurt Riussel Collrection.

This was my mini-review:

The Thing - 8.5/10: Great movie! I know a lot of people complained about the Blu-ray transfer, but I thought it looked very nice on my screen and did a good job of freshening up the 27 year-old flick. Just a good, all-around alien/monster flick that takes place in the Antarctic. Some of the effects may look a little cheesy now, but I think they still hold up pretty well. I think I may actually buy this BD.

I thought it was awesome and well worth buying.
