I never really knew what a kumquot was, but I always imagined it was like a persimmon. I saw some at Walmart yesterday, and picked them up. It turns out they're like tiny oranges, and you eat the whole thing. They're pretty good, with a bitter orange peel taste, and a background sweetness. I hope they get popular, and I start seeing them more often. Anyway, I recommend them. If you see some, check 'em out.

Not in MD. Shit, we just got decent hot sauce few years ago :D

The more Mexican invaders you get there, the better the food will become. :p

I have a couple of neighbors who have kumquat trees. I don't particularly care for them myself though. (pomegranates either, but my neighbors keep offering them)

I used to eat kumquats all the time, now I never see them in grocery stores. Every now and then stores like Whole Foods seems to have them.

I've never seen them anywhere other than from people who have trees. We used to have one but it died for some reason.

I've had kumquots before but I don't care for them. The bitterness is too much for me.

Also, what hot sauce are you referring to? My favorite hot sauce, which I only "discovered" a year or two ago, is Nando's peri peri sauce. That stuff is amazing.

I was using a bit of hyperbole. I like to keep my kumquots in my hyperbole :p

Seriously though, while longer ago than a few years, we used to only have the typical, but tasty Tabasco, and all the garbage knockoffs of Tabasco. My current favorite sauces are Tropical Pepper Co 4x habanero, and the ghost chili, and El Yucateco green sauce. All are hot and delicious :)
