anyone else have the unpleasant suprise after the 9.10 update finishes and reboots to a black screen?

I have a lenovo g550, had the perfect setup with kubuntu 9.04 and now its gone 🙁
worst part is none of the new 9.10 buntu flavors work, all i get are black screens. debian installs okay, might have to switch distro's
