Just a few minutes ago, I received my 1.2GHz T-Bird. My supplier JUST got it in two days ago from their source, although in very limited quantity. It's a Blue core/L1 Bridges connected with the following specs.

A1200AMS3B
BVHA 0103RPBW
Y5972540030

To me it looks like a week 3 of 2001 :) WOOT!! Can't get fresher than that! We'll see how bad (good?) this badboy overclocks!!

Now, anybody interested in my 1G Blue T-bird?

Nope, it was originally unlocked. However, I used the silver trace pen to connect the L1 bridges and all is good :)

[EDIT] Whoops! A little brain glitch there. It was actually LOCKED (L1 not connected), but I _unlocked_ it via silver trace pen. Sorry for the confusion.

Hey Robo

Did you try those new V5 betas yet? Sorry, I'm a little of topic.

I just hope that this new 1.2G T-Bird won't give me a fit with the 133FSB fiasco. Luckily, I was immune from that problem with my 1G T-Bird. Will report sometime tonight with the 1.2...wish me luck!

resinboy: "UL" bios for the KT7A? According to Abit's site that bios is only for the KT7 mobo. The only bios for the KT7A, as I can see, is the "WW". Or maybe there really isn't anything different in the bios to support the KT7A... (Seems to be the same WW bios for all KT7x-x mobos)

been playing with it all afternoon:( Tako- not trying to plug up your thread :))
OK, I am running an Adaptec 39160 scsi card, and an Ibm 36LZX boot drive, w/Windows2K. Because I was annoyed by the fact that the KT7, as well as the KT7A Raid would only boot with the UL Bios, I haven't fooled with things in a while. Today, I tried ALL of the available Bioss'( I think that's a word)for the KT7, and KT7A boards. For the KT7A, I tried the WW which comes loaded with the board , as well as the WZ- NO DIFFERENCE. After my scsi card bios screen, I get a "Press any key to reboot" message( just ASK me how many times I wanted to put a boot through my screen when seeing it !!!). I tried reverting my Adaptec card's bios back 1 revision- same thing( there are only 2 available). Figuring I was stuck with the UL, unless ABIT finds a fix, I decided to start dialing up my chip today(T-Bird 800/Ran fine on the KT7 at 1000 HZ-10x100). Choosing 1000mhz in the bios sometimes would give me( on boot up)either 10x100, or 7.5x133, depending on the bios's mood. When she booted at 10x100, and I went back in to make changes, all of the multiplier settings above 10x were GONE. I would have to power off, and USUALLY she would boot at 7.5x133(HOWEVER, when I would see the initial clock display, then hit DELETE, the clock reading would generally read 500mhz.) Now, when I go into the clock settings, the screen is blank with no settings. Guess I am temporarily stuck at 133 :)

Disable CD-ROM Booting option in your SCSI Card BIOS. That should fix the booting problem.

Jimbo: Kiss my ass and call me happy- that was the fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How the HELL did you know that( besides maybe getting hung there yourself at one time????). Man, if I could tell you the time I spent chasing that problem around :) Thank you so much!!!!!!!
NOW, since I assume that this fix will have no effect on my IDE DVD drive, i can still boot from cd rom using that drive, correct???

Hey Resinboy, read this thread over and you shall see the answer ;) Anyway, like jimmygates mentioned, that was one the issues I had with my SCSI setup. My problem was taken care of by downgrading the SCSI BIOS. Unlike your newer card, mine is very old, and has gone through many BIOS revisions, so I had more options than you :)

As for disabling the CD boot option (in the SCSI BIOS) and using the IDE CD drive as boot, technically it SHOULD work. Only you can find that out :) good luck!

Now, me needs to disassemble the PC to install 1.2GHz chip. Nah, getting some more sleep now.

well, I guess this is what happens when you are subscribed to about 20 different threads, and INITIALLY the problems are not immidiately applicable to you, you tend to "file them away" in the gray matter ( too bad my file system up there is screwed up!). Is this anything like "Hey, RTFM!!!"??? Really shows in this instance how going back and re-reading a thread would have solved someone a bunch of grief :)

I got the 1.2GHz chip in, and first booted up at default (133x9). Seems to be working fine without problems. Now, I kicked up the multiplier to 10 and ran it at 1.33GHz with default 1.75V. Again, flawless! Now, I upped the multiplier to 10.5 and got it to run at 1.4GHz. It ran all the benchmarks fine, but it gave me a round-off error in Prime95. I upped the voltage to 1.80V, but still same problem. Temp was reaching 50C on idle, so perhaps it was getting too warm. I called it quits for the night and left it at 1.2GHz until the the "Giganta" VOS32 cooling fan comes in. So as it seems, 1.4GHz looks attainable at default voltage, given ample cooling.

More to follow =)

TAkO...that "press any key to reboot" problem occurs only with adaptec and the new bios version for kt7a...if you really want the new bios version...and if no one answered the problem (i scanned through the thread) than just go into the scsi bios and turn off the boot off scsi cdrom option...this would be hassle to turn back on if you actually want to boot of the cdrom, but it worked for me.

doh...just read what's his name's post...
well than...sorry!

nice system...

i had a question...if you run 133 fsb won't there be problems with the video card and pci cards? I was planning on getting a kt7a but...when i run my kt7 @ 110 the video card already goes nutz...how do you guys get it to work at such high fsb?

Losty,

When you run 133FSB on a KT133"A" chipset, the PCI divider will be set at 1/4 (instead of 1/3) hence allowing the PCI to run at 33.33MHz. AGP is set at 1/2 divider (thus running at 66.66MHz AGP). So you shouldn't have any problems.
