KT7A-Raid and Crucial Ram ... is there something i missed?

I just purchased 2 sticks of CT32M64S4D7E.16TE 256mb 168-pin DIMM 32Mx64 SDRAM PC133

Using any single stick doesn't work...i get corrupt error file in the beginning of w2k. (ie system32/ntoskrnl.exe is one of them)

Using both sticks together the system boots up fine.

I even mixed the old micron pc133 128 mb cl3 ram with it and it works...

Is there something i missed ?? is there some special setup?

I tested the ram on an asus board ... think it was a a7v and windows 98 and it worked fine...

anyone know what is wrong?

Thanks in advance for the input...

You tried each stick separately and no luck?

I have seen something similar before. I had a stick that would not work by itself, but worked fine in a pair. This was on an Asus CUSL2-C board. I took it back and got it replaced because it didn't work in another system either.

yeah...bummer... both of them need to be with another stick...like they hate being alone or something...
makes me mad...

did the replace one work?
should i ask for a replacement ... it did work on another computer...
i even chose the one for my mobo...it should work on my mobo!!!!

do they charge you for replacements? for the shipping of it? Defects are free no?

If you check on the AMD forums alot of people have trouble with the crucial memmory on Abit boards, I use Mushkin rev. 3 and haven't experienced any problem.
You may want to check out their forums.

Tried turning off memory interleaving...windows still gets an error and file corruption
says i should fix it ... but it isn't even broken!

any other ideas?

Can you give me a link to the amd forums i went to amd.com and dind't see forums and amdmb.com has some but i didn't see many crucial titles...

Thanks...

*sigh* this is frustrating...i kinda want to use my computer with the ram i bought... grrrr...

do you think it's windows 2k?

What are you running the ram at? Also, are you O/C'ed? It could be bad ram......but I'm thinking there's another problem possibly like O/C'ing or running the ram to fast.......Good Luck at any rate! I always used Crucial with my Abit boards and had a KT7-RAID up until this Spring with 512mb of Crucial CL2 PC133 with absolutely no problems, so, I doubt/hope Crucial isn't the problem itself!😉

Thanks for the response guys...

<Have you tried running with the optimized bios defaults? >

Yep...

<<Why do you only want to use one stick? >>

My old one is cl3 i wanted to run it at cl2 ... one of the two sticks i got is a gift for my lil bro...

<<What are you running the ram at? Also, are you O/C'ed?>>

i tried it @ 133 mhz ... still doesn't work ... i doubt it's the ram ... because it worked on another system running windows 98 ... and it works fine when i have another ram accompanying it on my computer...so how can it be defective? it's possible ... but i hope there's another solution than to replace it...i hate exchanging products...especially when it's online...

any other ideas?

that wouldn't be such a bad idea ... but he wanted this crucial stick...
man i'm just going to have crucial replace both ... since it should work with my system... but it's not perfect so something is wrong...

thanks guys...

grrr the crucial tech support guy told me it was a faulty mem module..

the crucial csr he transfered me to said my board couldn't handle the "high quality rev" so it's not defective and i have to pay for shipping...ummm...

does everyone who rma's the ram have to pay shipping or did i just get gypped...?

ok everythings done...thanks guys...
