Help, has anyone got any ideas why after migrating from an Asus A7V to a the Abit KT7A, same hardware, I get eratic total hardware system crashes. No particular app is running, not related to heat, or time, just eratic, complete reboot. Tried slowing down mem, removing parts, etc. I had similiar problems on a Epox 7KTXA-disappeared when I went to ASUS A7V.

Win2K
KT7A
1G Tbird
256M Cas2
300W Psu
Teax 512EB
Asus 50X
1-45G IBM HD
1-40G Diamond Max HD
SCSI-Scanner
2 Printer ports
3COM NIC
ASUS GeForce DDR

Thanks, it is very frustrating, sometimes it happens 10X a day, others, once, leaves to trace in the Win2K event log.

Try resetting the bios with the jumper on the motherboard (remove power from the system to do this). While your system is booting up watch for a list that shows some of your hardware with IRQ's, take note of which devices are sharing IRQ's. Some devices don't work well with each other. Then take a visit over here.

Thanks,

Using win2K, all that is set automatically, acpi I think? I have never had to change it, but I will look into that as an idea. I've read all through that site, pretty good but nothing addressing my kind of problem. Really weird, is like a power hit, complete hardware crash, black screen.

I'm thinking scanner-
Then there is always remove your components and install one by one until you get the prob isolated.
Or... run MSCONFIG and see what is loading in the INI files and edit accordingly. Check the startup apps too. Good Luck.

My KT7 is doing the same thing. Also, when I shut down, I have to turn off the power strip to get it to come back on. I have a 300W Enlight 7237. I'm thinking the power supply is flakey.
