KT7A and memory

I have a basic question that I would be happy to have the answer for.

I have a ABIT KT7A Raid MBoard. It has 3 RAM slots. Is it true that you shouldn't fill all 3 slots? Rather you should fill just 2? Is this because you get better performance by interleaving pairs of memory? And since you cannot interleave 3 sticks - 2 interleaved sticks is the better option... am I making sense?

What is best?

2 x 256MB RAM PC133 4-way interleaved

or..

3 x 256MB RAM PC133 not interleaved.

I couldn't ever fill all my slots because the system would become unstable so I only use 2 of the 3. 512 Megs should be more than enough anyway.
