My overclocked duron system has been somewhat unstable, but the cpu is just between 40c-45c. I just get weird errors and things do not work as well or as fast as they should sometimes. I wondered what the problem could be. I have an agp voodoo 5, a nic card in the second pci slot, and a soundblaster live value in the third pci slow. Do not use the first pci slot if you have an agp card because it shares with the agp slot and could cause problems. I now know that the 2nd and 3rd slots share IRQ 11. They also share it with the ACPI. That means that I have three things on IRQ 11. Could this not be the cause of my system instabilities? I am going to move the soundblaster live value to pci slot 5. I do not think the network card and the ACPI sharing will matter. I have heard that soundblaster live cards do not like to share at all. What do you guys think? Also did you guys switch the cpu strength from 2-3 to get a more stable system as suggested by the overclockers workbench?

I have a very similar system, see sig, I also have some problems, but attribute most of them to win98 and other software because they also seem to happen at default settings.

However I do recall reading somewhere that you should set the nic as far away from the agp as possible.

What speed are you running at? What voltage?

BTW I'm showing a temp of 53c. Ambient in the room is a toasty 87f.

Does anyone have more information on switching the cpu strength from 2-3 in the KT7 bios. I visited the overclockers workbench site and found some bios tweaking information. They suggest to set all the dram settings to turbo and dram bank interleave to 4-way. I did both of these and they worked. Don't see any improvement but haven't benchmarked. Again, I would like to know more about the CPU strength issue. Thanks......

I made all the setting in the BIOS optimal, and have seen some difference in Si Soft Sandra

AMB, I visited your web site. You have a screaming system. Do you mean all the factors in the bios that allow for options using the word optimal or did you set each area to it's highest level?
Thanks....

Sandan, thanks for the comment on my system :)

I just basically set everything to max, and what i thought was optimal, and what the mauual said was optimal

Rigo, I got mainly everything from Dabs and got my heatsink and case from OcUk. I got my RAM from Crucial UK
