KT7 usb mouse problems....unbelievable!

Ok, PS2 mouse works fine. Plugging in my MS Optical mouse into computer via PS/2 adapter doesn't fix it.

Symptoms: upon bootup, mouse will not move until I've wiggled it around a bit. Mouse will usually work fine as long as I keep it moving. Once I let it stop, it sticks again....sometimes for as long as 10 seconds.

I've gone through the KT7 FAQ and tried nearly everything there. Disabling SBLive doesn't fix anything. Going from 235 to 300w power supply seemed to help keep the mouse from permanently freezing.

I have a carbon-copy of this machine in another room and it has none of these problems.

Latest 4-in-1 drivers are installed. VIA Usb filter is installed.

Does ANYBODY have ANY idea WTF is going on with this dang thing????

Did you disable USB error detection for your USB host controllers? There are many possible fixes, that is one that helped me as well as a couple bios settings..but all this was listed on the FAQ you mentioned. Seems the Microsoft mouse has more problems?

aye; i think there should be TWO VIA usb controllers listed in device manager, because of the additional usb ports that connect to the mobo

I'm going to try another Intellimouse and see if it cra*s out on me too. I'm willing to bet it is.

THis is by far the most unusual problem I've had on a computer ever. Why would the thing just stop working for 20 seconds then work again? I'm almost starting to think it is a heat issue...but my cpu is at 39 C....hardly "blazing hot".

Lemme try the new mouse.....I'll post results.
