I have been going crazy. Nickname: Snowtoy
I have a ABIT KT7-RAID board. I pretty sure the board is defected. I can't get any cards to work in the 4 & 6 PCI slot. Iv'e been over the IRQ's and they are free. The only thing it is steered with the USB. I even went into the bios and disabled the USB auto IRQ. They automaticly go to IRQ (4) and leave the 4 & 6 PCI slot with a open IRQ. I had to put everything on the first 3 PCI slots. To make them work. Its not the cards because I switched them all around so I no they can share a PCI slot IRQ for steer. dissabled both serial ports in the bios and even put a usb keyboard & mouse to free up more IRQ's.I even forced the video to use IRQ (5) to leave (12) IRQ for the PCI SLOTS 4 & 6 still doesn't help. Now and then when I load my modem or what other cards on 4, 6 & 5 I get lock ups or it starts to load and then I get a dialog box that says CTAVSTUB with a OK button then it won't let u past it it locks up on you after you push it. in safe mode I notice it list my sound Card about 4 times, wich would already be installed. Then when I shut down pull the card out thats not working not my sound card, the other card. It sometimes starts right up or I have to restore system to a prior state under Windows ME function.
Please help ,is there something I can do or should I get the Motherboard replaced. Thank You Here is my configuation.

Im pretty sure i read on one of the reviews for the KT7A(probably same as KT7) that slot 5(fourth PCI slot) is the RAID irq assignment. But be honest with ya, I thought ACPI was supposed to take care of all that mess and let you share, but I read on another post today that you need to make sure all your devices will work with ACPI or it doesn't function correctly. Sounds like plug and pray all over again, same book different chapter. I know that I put my Soundblaster Live Value there in that slot and had to move it for legacy support to function right so I don't know.

P.S. Your raid device onboard is considered a Bus Mastering PCI device and you can only have a total of 4 of those, but it only sounded like you had 3 PCI devices so you should be cool.

Good luck

Man the more I learn the farther behind I fall!!!!!!!!

Thanks I'll try that, but I thought PCI slot (5) was that shares the RAID. The other thing was that you said you can only have 4 bus mastering devices what exactly is considerd a bus mastering device.
Yhe thing that really gets me mad is that I upgraded from a supermicro p5ste motherboard with a 200MMX and all the add on cards worked fine with that machine. differnt video & no raid but the rest is the same.
