KT7 Raid / Duron 700: inserting CPU problems

sounds like ArtTech's problem but it isn't.

I bend down the thermal sensor, lift the lever of the socket and insert the CPU. It slides smoothly into the socket, but when I try to push the lever down to its original position to fasten the CPU I have the problem that the resistance of the lever is very high (in comparison, when no CPU is inserted) and I cannot push the lever down more than about 20%.
I didn't try more, because I did not want to damage my CPU or socket, so: has anyone an idea about this problem?

I don't know what you mean by "very high resistence." when there is no cpu, basically you can push the lever a little and it will fall itself. but when there is a cpu in the socket, you will have to push the lever all the way down.

I am not saying using full force though. you need to use some force, but shouldn't be a lot.

Sometimes when you lift the lever too far or not far enough, you can end up inserting the pins of the CPU behind the sockets presure contacts. The lever should be just off of 90 degrees to the board, when inserting the CPU. You can try taking a flashlight and watching the contacts move in the socket, it will give you an idea of where the lever needs to be.

Hi Magic, giving this thread a bump so it stays on top:D

To all folks: I think his problem is: How much pressure should one apply when putting a duron on the KT7Raid? Is it normal that there is so much resistence?

any help is appreciated.

Puhh, I got it now. Thanks to all of you ... CPU and socket are fine, and the CPU looks like inserted correctly: all the way down and the socket's holding it like concrete foundations.

P.S. It just needed a little more pressure than I expected. I took it out to check the pins (they're OK) and inserted it again.. successful.
Sweat's still running down my forehead ;)
