KT7-RAID boot problems

I've just built a new system but I'm having strange boot up problems. The system is a:
KT7-Raid MoBo
AMD 900Mhz T-Bird CPU
2x IBM GPX75 20GIG ATA/100 Hard drives (Raid 0)
Leadtek Winfast 64MB DDR AGP Graphics Card
2x 128MB Kingmax Tiny BGA PC150 RAM
Generic
300W PSU

The problem is that when I cold boot the fans all start up but nothing else. No POST, no ticks, beeps or otherwise. At this stage I can't even shut the system off using the on/off switch. Instead I have to switch off the power at the wall. However when I swith the power back on and swith the PC on again it boots into Windows no problems whatsoever.
Once Windows is up and running I can reboot all the time without any problems but when I shut down (power off) I run into the 'fans start but nothing else' problem.

Also, whenever I exit the BIOS setup the PC does not continue on with the boot process. I should note that the only changes I have made to the BIOS was to setup CPU speed which at this stage has not been unlocked or overclocked, set up the 1st boot device (raid) and to disable all other boot devices such as floppy and CD-ROM.

For the life of me I cant figure out what the problem is and would appreciate ANY help in solving this problem

I'd check your powermanagement settings. I had similar problems recently putting together my KT7-RAID system and tweaking the power management BIOS settings fixed all of them. You also might check the ABIt motherboard newsgroup--there is actually a lot of useful information out there.

kt7 faq + alt.comp.peripherals.mainboard.abit contain loads of info. I have seen this exact problem solved by deleting certain files.

If you have the two files drvwppqt.vxd &amp; drvwq117.vxd on your system,
delete or rename them. They are tape detection files installed by
either Microsoft Backup or Seagate Backup Exec. They cause a lot of
systems to hang at boot.
