KT7-Raid 4-in1 Update Problems!!

Just updated Bios to 3R, and while reidentifying the Via Ide Controller, win98SE crashed, BSOD, during boot. Can't get 98 SE to enable the IDE controller (DVD and CDRW), always bsod's at boot. Can't uninstall 4 in 1s, get "Registry Error, please reboot". Disabling IDE 1 and 2 allow boot without problems. Tried 4.25, 4.28, 4.33 drivers.

Please help!

The new highpoint drivers make it so ATAPI devices aren't recognized on the raid controller, is that an issue?

No, the DVD and CDRW drives are not on the Highpoint controller, they're on the regular IDE 1 and 2 (Via 686A). Those devices crash the machine when 98SE tries to load their drivers at boot. The Via busmaster driver loads OK, but then the Primary and Secondary channels are detected, and their automatic driver load crash the machine.

Wierd problem.

This is what might be happening:
This all depends on if you have SB16 Emulation enabled and you don't have sharing of IRQ7 enabled.
The sound card drivers will try and give IRQ5 to the SB16 emulation. Sometimes it bumps another device out of IRQ5, sometimes the device doesn't want to give up the IRQ and when it does it messes up the IDE controller, usually CDROMs or CD burners. On my system my Plextor would disappear.
