kt7 and tbird 1.2 what settings?

i have an old abit kt7 mobo and just got a 1.2 tbird. I don't have the new bios though and the tbird is a 266 fsb chip. so what settings should i run this at to get 1.2 when everything else in my system wants to run at 100mhz fsb? right now i'm not trying to overclock, though i might if i had somewhere to start. the things i have to play with are multiplier, fsb, and cpu fsb. does this even make sense? lmk, thanz

Should be 133 fsb speed. If you have PC 100 ram, that might be giving your problems. 133=266
Are you positive the chip is a 266?


Here is the problem I think...

- AMD Socket A Duron (100MHz FSB) up to 950MHz
- AMD Socket A Athlon (100MHz FSB) up to 1.4GHz


I don't think the kt7, supports 133fsb. You'll need a 100Fsb processor, that's why it's not showing up correctly.

i think basically what i need to know is what should the multiplier be for the 1.2 to run at 1.2? it should be something like 9*133=1200 right? so can i achieve this while leaving the fsb at 100 and just increasing the cpu fsb? cause your right i don't think the ram can handle 133 fsb

I think I see what you are saying. You won't be able to increase the fsb on just the processor. I think you would be better off with the 100fsb processor. Change the multiplier as you have stated above, then try to boot. You'll just have to play around with the settings, until you get something that works. Even if it will boot, you need to run Prime95, or DF program, Sandra burn in test to make sure the system is stable. You should get away with a mild overclock even if the ram isn't up to par.


Do you have the option of going up to 133?

i think that you can change just the cpu fsb, because in the menu for the bios you can choose multiplier (i.e. 10x), fsb (i.e. 100/33) and cpu fsb (which u can increase by 1 between 1 and 28) and u can choose different fsb settings but 133 is 133/44, i think which i don't think the rest of my stuff can handle. thanks for the advice

also right now i'm running this chip at 11*100 for 1100mhz would this be overclocking? since i suppose it more multiplier but less actual speed.. anyway it worked but wasn't real stable at 1.2 via 12x100, and is a little more stable here at 11x100, i.e. one freeze today on win xp over like 5 hours of regular work. i just bumped the voltage up a little to see if this will help

Yeah bump the V-Core a little bit to make it run stable. Technically your not overclockn' the chip, because it's a 1.2, but 1.1 is pretty good, you won't be able to tell the dif between 1.2, and 1.3 You can prolly bump the v-Core a lil bit, and get the higher multiplier for 1.2. Just keep a watch on the temps.
