Is there any way to tell if a KT400 mobo is using the updated KT400 verA4 chip instead of the origianl KT400 chip without yanking off the fan/heatsink covering the Northbridge on the motherboard itself?

Not that I know of.

Some boards have been reported to have the newer chip. DFI AD77 Infinity is one of them.

you should do that anyways, to see if there is any thermal grease in place lol

how might one know if its the new chipset or older one?

ANything about the new chip that we should love?? :D

the older kt400 was pretty much a dissapointment somehwat, the ram at ddr400 was often found to perform worse than at ddr333 most of the time

hopefully they fixed it/made it better in the newer kt400a?
