<< Nice try, PeteyPete. You get an "A" for effort!

ETA: 10/15/2001

Translation: We expect them in on the 15th. On the 16th, our supplier will call us to say "we're running a little late..."and they'll hang up. Two weeks later, you'll call us asking why the $%@! you haven't received your KT266A mobo. We'll tell you "um, we don't have them".

Real world: KT266A boards will be available, in bulk, to the general public (i.e. you and I) sometime in November. Maybe.

Shut your newbie ass, you dont know crap! I have talked to multiple places, they have had the boards for a few days, they can ship them out on the 15th, so shut up you fool. Think before you speak, or dont speak at all. You know nothing.

EDIT:argh

Someone please help this man, it is time for his daily dose of valium and he can't administer it to himself...

Lighten up moron, it's a fsckin' piece of metal and plastic. You need to take a break from the computer if you're getting so worked up over the release of a motherboard, NEWB!!!

wow what an entertaining flame war :) Sugadaddy you seem offly sure that the SBlive issue is fixed...but yet you don't have a motherboard with the 686B either. Other people are still reporting problems. Everytime we talk about motherboard issues on this board, it always goes to blame VIA and/or blame the user. Nobody ever thinks of blaming AMD (the chip darling - I had some problems with their AMD 751 chipset (as did many others, cept they were mostly using a GeForce and I had a TNT2 Ultra & later a Voodoo3). Blaming the user is also a fun option, but then the same dumb user (myself, in this case) was able to swap out the motherboard, cpu and fan, format and reinstall windows, and get a much more stable system using a VIA!!! Chipset (Asus CUV4X motherboard) and a P3 that I overclocked to 930 MHz (750).

Yeah, my board has the 686A, but I've built a few systems with the MSI k7T-Pro2A and SB Live! Value, and never had a single problem. And this was even before they came out with a patch to fix the problem...

The AMD 751 chipset did have problems (it was worse than the Via KX133...), Intel had to recall their i820 boards, etc. Every chipset manufacturer is bound to have a problem at one time or the other.

If you believe a certain company's products don't perform like they should, then just don't buy them, but stop spreading crap about every product they make is unstable.

Interesting thread ;)

hey KDOG, kinda harsh man. I've been building computers for around 6 years now, and I've been working in the computer field as a tech since '93. I definitely know what I'm doing, and I've had more problems with my current system then with any other I've built. I'm hoping the fact that it's AMD / VIA is just coincidental. No matter what I've tried, UT has a "chugging" problem on all AMD systems I've setup, but I've never seen this on any other system. I've posted on 4 forums and have used numerous FAQs and other tips, but have never managed to get UT running quite right. It really sucks that my old system, using a PIII 550 and 256MB RAM plays UT better then my current system, with a 1.4Ghz Tbird and 512MB RAM. Now all other games totally rock on this system, especially Q3A. It's only UT I have a problem with.

I'm not saying anything bad about VIA myself, but I know some very technical people who've had problems with their stuff. On the other hand though, I know plenty of Intel chipsets that have not exactly been "perfect". I'm setting up a ECS K75SA system for a friend this weekend and I'm really interested to see how it goes together, and whether it has any issues...

Hey Gogetta, I was playing with computers when you were still too young to play with yourself. Suck it.

Actually, I'm making an attempt to get this thread to stay civilized, which is contributing. I don't like having to see scroll through endless bickering posts to find posts that actually do contribute. You could be the better man and not continue the argument.......

You do have a point. And you're correct. I just dislike direct, unwarranted verbal attacks. Intelligent debate is one thing, but unsolicited flaming is another. I just wanted to make sure you weren't Gogetta's brother or something. ;)

I just thought it'd be nice to share some information that I had gathered. *shrug*

Is the board guaranteed, good as gold, 100% sure to be out on the 15th? Nope. But it's best latest information we have.

People really take this stuff too seriously sometimes.

gogeeta13 ,Calm down if you feel a member is wrong you can say it in a much better way, we are supposed to be a happy AT family here, until we are in CS then it`s war ;),getting back on subject I expect the Via KT266A boards to be fine on stability etc,you always get maybe the odd minor problem with any chipset and bios update normally fixes this.

I`m still not decided between the nForce and KT266A,I guess I will wait for reviews.

:)
