I saw this at Tigerdirect....now it's a Micro ATX case and only has a 150 W power supply. But, still, it looks like it *might* be the basics for a cheap low-end system. I could not, for the life of me, figure out for sure whether the mobo is included. It looks like it, but their description does little to solve the mystery.

The Link

So, what do y'all think we're getting for our $79????

<< Considering that it mentions bios and socket A and the chipset, Yes it does come with a mobo... >>

redly 1, yeah, that's what I'd think too. Then again, it also mentions a 52x CD-ROM, although that doesn't appear on the original list....

...and what am I doing even looking at these? I'm sitting here with that great deal I got on the ECS K7S5A from another thread. Got all the other parts and haven't even built it yet.

I should have my head examined.

;)

Tiger direct gauges on shipping so don't expect anything good. The case is a problem too, it is obviously micro ATX and moreover the space for power supply seems to be inadequate.
So case with unusable power supply is not worth more than $20, unknown mb is not worth more than $30 (for god's sake KT266A motherboard by Shuttle is $45 on newegg) and keyboard, mouse, speakers (probably $4 Chinese made crap), and floppy combined is not more than $25. Modem? Probably some outdated crap by motorola worth $10 if at all.
So all in all this is at the best $85, and they will make the difference on shipping no doubt.

The real question is - do you want to buy crap because it is cheap?

About Tiger Direct check BBB.

Good advise....When it's cheap, it's a crapshoot, sometimes you win (Andara Barebones from last year, $65 shipped, still running strong), sometimes you loose

Actually I didn't notice they put in CD drive. Well that makes it more attractive but in either case uatx motherboard in a minimal case with a super minimal power supply. Case really looks like crap. I've seen something like that from Tiger Direct as well and it was with a power button that goes inside like 2 inches and then pops back like a spring on an old matress.
There must be some really hot gouging with shipping, Tiger Direct is well known for that as well as for cheating and misrepresentation. Not too many companies make news when goverment acts against them, Tiger Direct did. Good luck.
