Cases have been reported in Arizona.

There are some videos out on the net showing flesh ate away from the bone from using Krokodil. There is at least one video of a doctor amputating a limb because the flesh has been eaten away.

I will not post a link to the videos, find them yourself.

This Krokodil is bad, bad stuff.

Definitely some bad stuff, but there are some advantages of this stuff over other illegal drugs. For starters, it's much easier to know who's using it, as opposed to someone who is hooked on oxy or something like that. The average lifespan of a krokodil user (from the article) is only 2 - 3 years. Ultimately that saves the taxpayer a lot of money.

As long as it's not contagious and only directly affects the user, I don't see it as some sort of crisis. No doubt there is plenty of devastation in the wake of anyone who does this stuff, but that's not any different than any of the other drugs out there.

I guess it gives you insight into just how powerful the changes made to the brain are. Once your brain is wired to seek out the effects of the drug, nothing, not even your flesh falling off your bones is strong enough to break that pattern

Necessity is the mother of all inventions. Codeine is probably the hardest to come by so this is a way to extend the drugs usefulness. Instead of one dose of a drug... you mix it with some toxic crap and now you have 10 doses.

It isn't like they just mix them together and do it, each component has a purpose in the process. One breaks the drug down, another will change it on a molecular level, the next will precipitate the drug out of the solution, basic chemistry

That's the irony. Pharmaceutical grade desomorphine does not cause necrosis and eat your flesh off. It's not the active ingredient that does that, it's all the impurities and other crap that end up in the final product when you drive production underground and have some high school drop out without the proper education/training and facilities synthesizing the drug.

Plus there's basically no accountability, whereas if it was a legitimate business producing the drug, they could face civil penalties, would receive negative PR and probably have investors jump ship, etc. if they were selling an impure and unsafe product to the public.
