There's no practical reason for US users to use/make Krokodil as unlike Russia there are no easily available codeine based OTC drugs, I don't expect this to gain any real traction in the US.

This is grave news, but I'm sure we can overcome it by increasing drug enforcement funding and regulating its ingredients. It worked for meth.

Very disturbing that people would continue to use the stuff. Amazing how the brain works (or doesn't work in this case).

Have you ever looked at the laundry list of ingredients to make meth? Or worse, "Nazi" meth??

People looking for a high have no self control, when they get to the point of using drugs like this. All they care about is getting high, and they'll do ANYTHING to accomplish it. Hell, I'm constantly amazed at the things that ring up at the store checkout, that requires an age check, because some stupid ass kids try to huff it! 🙄

This is some nasty stuff.

Yeah, pretty much. Get carded for the most seemingly simple things, because some dumbass thought they could get a high off paint thinner and bleach.

Watched the SciShow episode about it. It's dissolving your body from the inside out due to the powerful solvents used to cut the drug. Life expectancy for a Krokodil user is 2-3 years.

From what I understand, krokodil is to heroine what crack is to cocaine. It's a processed, more potent, and cheaper substitute. Which is what makes it particularly alluring for hardcore addicts. Too many people have died slowly poisoning themselves. If you want to die, a gun is much quicker and cleaner.

Wow that is some nasty shit.

As far as addiction, it's not that people "don't have self control." It takes place in a part of your brain, the limbic system, that doesn't responsd to logical, rational thought. That's why so many aspects of addiction seem so illogical to those without addiction (shit, to those WITH addiciton as well).

Hopefully we can let these people finish that 2-3 year life expectancy rather than arresting them, getting them clean, and putting them behind bars and costing the rest of society a shitload of money.

Must be many different brain oddities out there. I've taken plenty of oxy among other things, but have never had a desire to continue to do so after the recovery period.

A bullet to the head is NOT clean.

Unless by clean you mean picking up pieces of brain splattered against the wall/couch/everything else.

Depends on where you do it. In a concrete/masonry building with a drain nearby? A quick power-washing can clean the area up in probably 2 minutes.

Our private prison companies are lining up in the lobbying lines as we speak.

Supporting their business agenda IS their solution and will be our Governments as well!

It's a big business.
