I think aunt jemima's syrup is the run off of her drool after that walking bean bag ate all the real syrup.

Keep in mind that there are different types & quality levels of Maple syrup... the Grade A dark stuff you buy fresh made in Vermont or Upstate NY is worlds away from the stuff sold in Costco or most Supermarkets, still even the cheapest pure maple beats caramel colored suger syrup, especially with fake butter flavor tossed in the mix ... nasty!!!

How big is the bottle & how much did it cost? real maple syrup costs a fair amount more then any of the standard shelf stuff.

Which kind was it?

Be aware of differences within the same store brand, too. Most store brands come in several tiers, to dispel the notion that store brands are strictly for penny pinchers. Kroger, for example, has a low-price brand called FMV (For Maximum Value), said to provide ?good quality at a very affordable price,? but it also has a flagship Kroger line, to compete with national brands, and a premium line of fancy foods such as macadamia nuts, maple syrup, and preserves.

You should buy some *real* canadian maple syrup.

FTW!!!!

Yeah we get the "to big to conveniently fit in the fridge" size at Costco and it's pretty good... not the best but tasty...

You must mean the Private Selection stuff then (A kroger brand). The actual Kroger brand stuff, as well as lots of "popular" syrups are actually maple flavored corn syrup.

If the bottle of syrup you bought is half the size of all the other bottles on the shelf, and twice as much, you got real maple syrup.

That said, I cant stand anything but real maple. If I cant have maple syrup, i wont use syrup at all and just use jelly. But corn syrup? Nasty.

Maple or jelly. Period.

That's definitely the jug, but the "contact us" is a Mansfield number, probably a distributor for the local makers. The on I got was purchased in Fredericktown, same jug.

Agreed! Of course our family has our own sugar shack (outside ottawa), so liking maple syrup is essential to being in the family.
We get a 4 litre jug almost every year.
