Looks like it sells for <$20. Why not try it and make up your own mind?

i dont know,i guess the fact that its less abv then kraken and im not a big fan of sugary liqueur type alcohols

i will admit,i almost bought it friday but im not sure if it has sugar in it or not.i try to stay away from really sweet alcohols

Me neither. If it's low alcohol, I'd guess it's something to compete with the coffee liqueurs. Sweet, and made to go with girly drinks.

"something to compete with coffee liqueurs"

so really, regardless.its not something you should be making rum and coke with anyway?

I don't know. I'm having trouble imagining it, but I'm not really a fan of rum & coke. I drink spirits neat for the most part. Maybe try adding some instant coffee to your regular rum & coke to get an idea of how it goes.

either way,i dont know.i used to drink alot of irish coffee's and used to put bailey's in my coffee all the time.now i kind of just, drink my coffee without alcohol and just drink the booze either mixed with stuff or straight

i guess if kraken black roast really is only made for mixing with coffee i might just forget it anyway

guessing you'd use it where you'd use kahlua. which is a rum based coffee liqueur

straight is an age statement for whisky.

this stuff is literally a kahlua knockoff. if you don't like/use kahlua, don't get this. if you do, then try it.

i guess i meant just drinking it without mixing it with anything, but i dont know.this seems more like stuff you'd mix with coffee so i might just stick with the regular kraken.ive found a couple other rums(including a 40 percent abv bacardi spiced rum which i just today found out about)that seem interesting ive never had before

I still have a bottle of Kraken from Christmas. Not much of a rum person, so I haven't opened it yet.

Pretty good as far as spiced rum goes, IMO. Also not much of a rum person, I think I've only bought it twice.

I love rum but I just cant get into spiced rum. You cant taste the rum over the vanilla and crap they put in.
I can see spiced rum making an ok rum and coke I guess.

I have a cool gift set, just can't bring myself to open it. Might dress up like Jack Sparrow for Halloween and give it a whirl :D

Funny, I don't think silver rum is worth tasting by itself :p

Hm, is not all dark rum spiced? I thought it was essentially either silver or spiced.
Here's a nice one to try...

It's a flavor bomb, and none of it is added crap. Just distilled and aged. After the eye watering prices of scotch, it's a tremendous bargain. <$25

My problem is that Kraken just isn't cool to say if you don't speak it with the most Scottish accent you can muster. Having said that, it's Rum..... Why can't they may a Kraken Islay?
