It is almost as good as the regular stuff, but it is lots easier to make.

1. Pour Macaroni into 2-cup microwavable cereal bowl.
Add 2/3 cup water.

2. Microwave Macaroni and water, uncovered, on HIGH 3-1/2 to 4 minutes or until Macaroni is tender.
DO NOT DRAIN.
Some water remaining in bowl is desirable and necessary to make cheese sauce.
CAUTION: Bowl will be Very Hot.

You're right. This stuff is great when you need a 5 minute meal.

I usually eat 2 of them together..1 isn't enough.

I found it quite nasty when it first came out. Did they change the recipe? My kids won't even eat that stuff!

If you want a better tasting mac&cheese that cost less per portion just buy the Deluxe, boil the mac then put it in tupperware in the frig and when you want mac&cheese take how much pasta you want, squeeze desired cheese on 'em and nuke for 45 secs ;)

if you put more water in than they suggest, does it come out less thick? it would'nt be so bad if it didn't feel like eating glue.

Screw what they say. I put in water to where I want to. :) I don't have a measuring cup so I put in water like I was making actual macaroni.

Ugh. if it tastes anything like their Deluxe, then Run And Hide!
Whenever I want an instant snack I always crave Pot Noodles, but I havent found decent ones here in the states yet.

I think it's pretty good. And if you're a college student in a dorm that only has a microwave then you're set.

I eat 2 packages also.

And how thick it is all depends on how much water you use in the beginning and how long you let it nuke. The longer, the more water that evaporates so the thicker it is. If you notice when you first mix in the cheese its usually pretty runny but after a while (after evaporation) it gets thick. Just take it out sooner or add more water (or milk :) )

nah, i tried making it a few different ways and it always turned out the same. it might just be my preference in mac n cheese though, i like it to be a tad on the soupy side.

Hmmn I may give it a try. I've had a box of 10 or so easy mac packets sitting in the pantry for a few months now (bought it on impulse from CostCo).

What's the shelf life on this?

i like a lot of milk in mine too. not to the point where you can drink the milk at the bottom or anything. it just has to be nice and thin. :) either that or baked macaroni and cheese are 2 of my favorite meals.

mac and cheese sucks. I dunno, I really dislike it. I like those noodle pakcets better, since I can add a lot of stuff on my own (frozen veggies, parmesan, etc) and a sausage on the side. Or one of my award winning omlets.

Question.

After microwaving the pasta, sauce and water in a bowl ... does everything "cake" onto the bowl making it difficult to wash?

to the extent that ALL forms of melted cheese are a little bit difficult to remove.

That's not good, means more clean up.

Hmmn.

Maybe right after eating if I fill the bowl with HOT tap water to let it sit and the cheese loosen up?

I use a microwave safe Corningware type thing..it's porcelaine, or some sort of porcelaine-esque thing, which cleans very easily. Just fill it up with tap water and it will be fine.

All this for mac and cheese. :p

i'm pretty sure you're supposed to add the cheese sauce after you cook the macaroni in the microwave.

it's the same idea as boiling it instead of microwaving it and then adding the cheese sauce.

murphy55d - I really gotta get one of those containers. The problem is whenever I go to Walmart or Target the selection is so massive that I get easily confused on what to buy, end up pacing around, talking to myself, then my wife, wondering what to do, what to buy, why are other customers staring at me ... it's very troubling.

Ah ok. That should make clean up a lot easier since you're only microwaving the pasta and water and add on the cheese after the bowl has been removed from the microwave.

Now let's talk about microwaving potatoes, is that difficult?

;)

Ross, if you go to WalMart, get one of the Pyrex sets. I (unfortunately) work there, and these are routinely one of the better sellers, and are not too expensive. IIRC, they have sets ranging from like 16 bucks on up.

You can also buy just one I think, but I don't know any price info on them. Probly cheaper to get a set.
