if i have 2 sticks of 256mb ddr ram and 1 stick of 512mb ddr ram will that work on my motherboard? will it be stable? am i allowed to mix sizes or do i have to stay with the same size?

I personally haven't seen too many mobo's (if any at all!) work with ram of different sizes at the sametime. I would suggest you used ram modules of the same size just to be safe.

Ive done it with two different sizes of ram...most common example: 128MB, 256MB. Course this was all on SDRAM on various boards. Couple MSI, Compaq whatever named board, Dell Pentium III 750, etc. Never tried it with DDR

I was going to do the same thing myself
They didn't have the 512 when I ordered mine.
I would think it will work as long as the chips are the same density.
I am going to order from crucial when I do it so I can return it if it dosen't work.
It is listed under crucials sight as compatible for the KR7A Raid board which I own too.
