The tray on your CDR shouldn't be opening up on bootup. Something is wrong. Besides that, there's a lot of things to check.

1. Remove EVERYTHING from the mobo. EVERYTHING except the CPU/HSF. Reset the CMOS.

2. Double check the power and IDE cables going to your CDR and HD. Ensure they are inserted correctly, fully and that the IDE cable isn't shifted "one row over" it happens. Make sure ALL the pins in the socket of the CDR and HD are going into ALL the pins on the cable.

3. Firmly insert your AGP videocard and one stick of memory. Nothing else.

4. REboot with only the monitor/KB/mouse plugged in.

5. If boot, then add thing one at a time (additional memory/soundcard/NIC/ETC) until/if you identify what is snagging you.

6. If no boot, considering you 've already said that your video card is fine, try another stick of memory.

Good luck!

Push down on your RAM sticks a little bit.

Abit KR7A MBs have tricky RAM slots, as it doesn't boot up if your memory modules are not quite in-place.

Just push down on it until you barely see those gold leads on your sticks. It will boot up.
