KotOr+x800+DNA4.7's=BIG PROBLEM

I have and x800 pro and am using teh DNA version of the cat 4.7's. I play for awhile and it will crash. I go back in and play for awhile then when changing areas the enviroment dissapears, the characters will be there , the npc'swill be there and soem enviroment objects will be there but not the floor ceilings or walls, WTF? I am about to try changing over to the omega 4.7's and see if that helps. I do have the 1.3 patch for KotOR, and I have DX9.0b( already dled 9c but have not installed yet). I will report back in a sec but I don't think the DNA's are the problem. is KoptOR DX or OGL also?

well I installed the omegas and the visual problems stopped but it still crashed on me. could the problem be the modified exe I use so I don't have to use my cd? I hope not the cd's are at my gf's!

dammit, ok the omegas got really really jacked, worse than the dnas then after a couple minutes crashed. this was definatly the graphics. I had just these random traingles popping up everywhere, they were huge. I guess I am gonna try the standard ati cats. maybe they wil work. if not I will try going back to some 4.6's I have around here somewhere.

ok no visual problems but it still crashed on me with the standard ati's. I am beginging to think it is the modded exe.

Could be. Uninstall the game to be sure and keep the savegames.
I agree with Acanthus, why did you use DNA in the first place? I used them for a month or so in the past and all I gained is pain in the a$$.

Catalyst all the way. For overclocking add Radclocker manually. I don't trust repackaged drivers at all lest they're my own remixed NV UDPs.

It's a bug in the ATI drivers claims Lucasarts, but imo it's a bug in their game. To fix this the general consensus is to use the catalyst 4.2 opengl dll in place of anything later than that. From my own testing the textures for the ground don't appear during a crash, but all models, grass, people, etc show up fine.

I haven't done it yet, but I plan to make a batch file that will copy and replace this file as needed.

I have a 9800 Pro and have tested both the Cat 4.6 and 4.7 drivers. Same exact problem, and no cure in sight... For me, the game usually just crashes, but about 20% of the time I get the missing texture issue you described.

Keep me up to date on that. Also, I used because they have certain tweaks that do very seldomly expose a problem but I have been able to get better AA performance from them and if this will fix it I will certainly try it. pleas let me know if you have a chance to make that batch as I will now have to dl the 4.2's and figure out which files are which and try to modify the installer. Your way seems much easier and hopefully you knwo already which files are the ogl ones.

ok, noticed some cat 4.8's around with some supposed OGL improvements. The visuals were nice but it still crashed on me. cat 4.2's ogl I guess is it?

I tested this and the ogl 4.2 driver for ati cards -DOES NOT WORK WITH THE X800 SERIES!!!!!
