I hope not everyone can be a Jedi like in SWG. Oh lord...

Pre Cu it took time and effort to become a Jedi,NGE changed all that however,I actually liked my Master Doc more then my Jedi(shame they phased out docs) we were so popular and always needed, not to meantion nice bank tips from patients 😉.

PreCU SWG was, hands down, the best MMORPG. No game, present ones included, ever have or will come close to even touching the complexity that SWG offered once upon a time. Crafting was almost a science, real player cities, player driven economy - the best virtual sandbox ever made. All it needed was some tweaking

Instead SOE & Lucas Arts buried what could've become the only serious WoW-killer and turned it into the pos that it is today.

I think you guys are jumping the gun. Its not 'Knights of' if you look at the comments. It is 'The Old Republic'. Therefore, it is not truely a KOTOR MMO but a MMO set in the Old Republic Universe. If you are going for a sci-fi franchise and want instant marketing then that is the one to go for. They can really mess it up. To me it should be a EVE/Ultima like game based on PVP but I think in the end it will be a WoW clone. Not that this is a bad thing but they look to be going for subscriptions.

I'll probably play it. Hopefully they up the ante for graphics when compared to Age of Conan.

Old Republic universe means there's bound to be jedi knights around, playing Jedi is a popular class and what a lot of players want to be, so I can't see them not having jedi knights in the game,as to WoW clone I REALLY HOPE ITS NOT,when SWG tried to copy some of the WoW features towards the NGE phase it was the start of death for SWG,SWG was unique PreCu.

It doesn't matter if the name technically makes sense, what matters is that they built a reputation for the name and franchise that was well deserved, and now they plan to exploit that name and reputation to push an alternative product that can exploit it for what is incorrectly perceived as the only way to get at the big money...

They (Bioware) opened a new office in Texas to develop it as to not take resources away from the rest of the company. The only people that can prevent another single player RPG KOTOR would be Lucas Arts. I would not be surprised if Lucas Arts forced this next KOTOR game to be an MMORPG, since SW: Galaxies has declined....
In fact, one plausible rumor for why neither Bio nor Lucasarts have officially released information on this project is that they have to wait the license SWG has expires (2009?), at which point they'll can that game before launching this one.

Although a bunch of people at Bioware Austin worked on SWG, including studio co-directors Richard Vogel and Gordon Walton, I wouldn't expect this game to look anything like either the old or revised versions of that one. Bioware's background is in RPGs with strong story, and they've talked of their innovation being somehow bringing this into the MMO space. So it won't be a sandbox game (and, hopefully, won't be grind-based either).

Let's all hope EA doesn't have too much control over development! Maybe BW "coerced" EA's large pocket books with WoW-like return.

There's more Star Wars fan's being born everyday!
