KotOR on Steam

I played KotOR on the Xbox way back in the day (before it was ever released on the PC) and I loved it! I'd like to play it again, but this time on a PC.

I saw that it is $9.99 on Steam right now. What does it typically get down to during sales? $4.99? $2.99?

Thanks!

Ok, yeah that's a good price. I think that's roughly $3 US, right? I'll wait for the Black Friday sales on Steam, then.

It can go down to 2.50 which is so awesome for such a perfect game.

KOTOR 2 never goes on sale at Steam or Amazon and I dont think GOG or the others. Too broken I guess.
It plays alright, but the story feels unfinished and half-assed.

Yeah, I played KotOR 2 back when it came out (also on the Xbox) and it was fine. Not good enough to buy it again and replay it, though.

KOTOR runs like shit on Steam. I wasn't able to play more than 10-15min without a crash/freeze. A lot of folks had same issues. Anything of the fixes looked like way more hassle than it was worth.

The only issues I've had with it had to do with W7, not Steam. Just make sure the game has the latest update and you're running it in XP (SP2) compatibility mode with admin rights.

The restored content mod fixes much of that feeling.

Speaking of TSLRCM, they're up to version 1.7, with version 1.8 on the way.

Really? Cool! I gotta go try thi...

"Starting a new game is REQUIRED for the mod to work properly.

Saves from version 1.6 WILL cause problems after installing 1.7. It is STRONGLY SUGGESTED to start a new game."

:( This makes me a sad panda.

Yeah, that's the downside of modding. Even game studios run into those issues sometimes (although not so much in recent years.)

I'd wait for version 1.8 to start a new game and then finish it with that version. Playing with mod versions is like PC upgrading in many ways... if you keep waiting for the latest & greatest product, you'll never actually get anything done. ;)

I tried KotOR but only got into it a few hours. RPG's kind of drag on me with all the chit chat. I should probably try it again. I often lose interest with RPGs unless I turn on the afterburners and make that extra effort to get into them.

KOTOR starts with a bang so I dunno how you could get bored.
Little tip: Enable the console codes and use TURBO to walk around faster. Speeds up the boring part of the game considerably, and doesnt unbalance combat.

Black Friday sales? So close to Christmas, I'm guessing that's not nearly as large in scope as the Christmas sale will be? Or is that another name for the Christmas sale and it actually happens on Black Friday lol?

Personally I'm going to wait a while and see how it turns out... the previews aren't all positive.

Eh, I'm not a big Star wars fan nor an mmo person, but I'm in the beta and loving this game and will definitely be pre-ordering sometime.

Hopefully they'll have a free trial option after the launch. I'm certainly interested in the game, but I don't participate in MMO beta tests anymore, too busy.
