Its great.

Basically, the last game I have played that was this good was final fantasy 7 way back in 1999. I borrowed this game from my friend last week with little hopes (no, I am not a star wars or sci-fi fan). However, this is possibly one of the best games I have ever played. Everything about the game is really awesome. Just wanted to share that. Cant wait to play kotor 2.

Indeed, I never had time to play it through again, Ive heard not as good reviews of KOTOR 2 though, and it supposedly has a huge number of bugs out of the box.

If FF7 was the last good game you played, you don't play enough games :p

Hell, I liked plenty of other FF games more than FF7.

No, I mean many great games are out there. I loved Half-life 2, Farcry, Baulders Gate, etc....

But what I have wanted was a game with an awesome plot and awesome gameplay. This game did it. I mean, even though I liked morrowind, it had nothing on the original daggerfall. I dont know, this game just blew my mind. 5/5 in my book

Oh yeah, Final Fanstasy Tactics fits in the bill too ;)

See, FFT is my favorite of all the FF games, it's been sitting in my PS1 for YEARS. It never leaves it.

I'm kind of hoping Elder Scrolls IV will do that for me. I've never played KOTOR and probably never will, no matter what anyone says. There's just some things that people have described about it that they liked that I know I wouldn't like, so I haven't bothered.

Kotor was a near perfect game, a formula that most developers cannot figure out.

Dont limit yourself man. I love the elder scrolls series (yes, all of them. Am i showing my age?), but KotOR was really a great game that can compete with Morrowind anyday.

[edit] I just read what i wrote and dont agree entirely. KotOR on pc had some serious "console issues" that pissed me off. At least Morrowind was developed for the PC and ported to the lesser console--as it should be done. [/edit]

In my opinion, FF 7 was the beginning of the end for that series.

Haven't played KOTOR, but I'll probably be picking it up as soon as I have some time to play it.

KOTOR was a great game and a lot of fun, but Fallout 1 -2 and Planescape: Torment had deeper storylines and more challenging combat. Snobs can't stand the old 2D 640x480 isometric graphics though.

PS:T Still goes down as being the best CRPG ever, with the Fallout and BG games nipping at its heels.

KOTOR1 was good, no doubt, but the fact that you could beat the game, doing all the sidequests, in under 24 hours really makes it pale in comparison to the 2D CRPG Gods. :p

There is a 3rd party dev team that's patched a number of the bugs that Black Isle never fixed, google 'Planescapt: Torment Fix Pack' You'll find it. Problem is that save games are incompatible between the fix pack and the official patch, so you have to start over again. :(

Apples and oranges. KOTOR runs on rails....very linear. MW is anything but linear.

STATEMENT: KOTOR was the best RPG game I've ever played.. I got it for free for preordering Doom 3 - I've played KOTOR much more than D3!
CONDESCENDING NOTE: I am, however concerned that KOTOR2 is a lesser clone of KOTOR*. The meatbags left the game unfinished.

* (you'll have to have played KOTOR2 to get the reference)

if these games are such "classics" then they need to be remade.

i went thru a lot of sh!t installing SS2 . . . including - finally - installing Win98Se on a separate partition . . .

there is a reason i'm running a 3+Ghz system, 1GB PC3500 and a mid-level GPU about to get upgraded to a high-end card . . . it isn't to play games at 6x4 @ 60hz with crap 2D-graphics and 16bit colour . . . same reason i dumped my B&W tv :p

and it ain't cause i'm a "snob" ;)

post the links :p

edit: all the review i have read puts II up with the original . . . both "great" but flawed. ;)

KotOR is superb thru the first half - then it seems rough, unfinished and rushed (and buggy in places - Mataele Grounds, for eg)

i don't understand . . . now

the droid's dialog was very funny . . . but even the KotOR 1 got "uneven" and some of the plot lines were never fully developed,

i think he's referring to this:

which mimics HK's manner of speaking
