I decided to play through the game again and i just got to the plains on Dantooine.

Does anyone else have extremely bad slow downs. I mean, the guy will get stuck and suddenly be across the map, or the game will slow down to ~.5fps. I tried cutting all detail to minimum, no shadows, grass, low quality (My system should be running this game much faster than that as everywhere else 2x AF and High Quality on everything at 12x10 runs fine).

Does anyone else know of this problem, or know of a way to fix it?

i thought this was an issue that got fixed with the last patch? or perhaps the latest catalyst drivers......assuming you have a radeon

this is all just speculation though, good luck, i played it twice, once one the lightside, once on the dark

also, try this out, it may help:

some other dude had a similar problem

Unfortunately im running a 5900XT.

I ran the update software and it didn't find anymore updates.

Ill try disabling vertex buffers, but im not sure if it will help.

Additionally, went into the game for the first time way back when, i had to immediately navigate blind to the VSYNC and turn it on. THe screen was going haywire, tearing so bad i couldn't discern anything until i turned on VSYNC. Running a Dell 1905FP via DVI cable.

This is KOTOR I also not II. II worked fine... figures.

It's a vertex buffer issue. there's a fix for it...stand by while I dig it up... I had the same problem and fixed it....

Edit, ok, think I found it.

> Go to your KOTOR directory, and open the file swkotor.ini Use notepad or wordpad.

> There should be a setting in this section that looks like this:

Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=0

> Change setting value to 1.
> Try game, see if that helps.

It isn't there in KOTORI or II. Ill create it and see if that helps then.

Yeah, you have to create it. I had the exact same problem you did with my current 6600GT, this fixed it.

I've got the same problem. I got so sick of it I just quit playing, maybe I'll give it a shot again tonight.

I found it to work. Actually, 2 things were contributing to this.

I had EAX2 disabled for my Soundstorm audio. I moved back to EAX, and that helped a lot. Then the Vertex Buffer further helped. THe only thing there that slows me down now, is looking right at the sun, but hey, it just jumps real quick.

Thanks guys,
