I've been trying to get the screen resolution to play at 1280x1024 but it seems to lock in at 1024x768 even though the setting claims its 1280x1024. Anyone seen this problem before? Running it on Vista 64 bit and have the latest 1.0b patch. I also tried XP compatibility, took a look at the ini file (its set to use 1280x1024), to no avail.

I played it at 1280x1024 without any problems, but that was on 32-bit XP. It could have something to do with 64-bit Vista. Some quick googling shows people are having trouble in general with KOTOR II and Vista 64-bit, but I didn't see your specific problem mentioned.

I've played at 1600x1200 in XP but not Vista. KOTOR 1 worked at 1600x1200 for me in Vista32 but the UI gets too tiny then and I was too lazy to search for a UI mod (if any exist).

False!!!!...Runs fine on my Vista x64 at 1280x1024 res,Btw there's googling results with XP and KOTOR 2 with problems, however it really proves nothing on either OS.

What monitor are you using, all drivers updated?..if you are using a LCD you tried it in both DVI and analogue mode(where possible) to rule out LCD monitor issue.

Works fine with latest CATs 8.10s drivers on my 4870 card, also works fine when I tried my 7800 GT card with 17x.xx drivers(both in Vista x64).

Have you tried other games do they work ok at resolution of your choosing?
Last question what video card are you using?

My Vista game compatibility settings for KOTOR 2 are set to "run as admin" and XP SP2 compatibility mode"

I forgot to say install lastest DX9.0c (which has just been updated again NOV 2008)link ,its for Vista as well as XP.

False!!!!...Runs fine on my Vista x64 . . .

I had a lot of problems with KOTOR 2 in my Vista64 install. Not just the instability and bugs, but also strange oddities where dialog, events, and cutscenes were skipped entirely only to have the characters refer to them later. This isn't the fault of Vista 64, rather, a very unpolished game published by LucasArts.

Most games have bugs and KOTOR2 has more then its fair share, however I was really try to say that there is no real reason why KOTOR2 should not run in Vista x64(think I have played it 3 times from start to finish and also the first KOTOR,not to meantion Jedi Academy and Jedi knight 2 as well on Vista x64),most problems are with the game rather then any OS ,plus there's no reason why it should not run in 1280x1024 resolution on Vista x64 or any compatible OS.

I never had problems running it at a 4:3 resolution. Forget about wide screen though. It doesn't work.

Hmm, maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me... Here is the 1280x1024 resolution for KotOR I

kotor1280x1024.jpg

And this is what I see for KotOR II

kotorii1280x1024.jpg

The interface doesn't look like 1280x1024. I have the latest drivers and I did try run as administrator.

It's a flaw in Kotor 1 that the text and icons grow unreadably tiny as you up the resolution, they fixed that in 2.

Just installed and Kotor 1 and while in 1600x1200 this is incredibly irritating. Any other res is going to look like crap since it's not the native res of my display.

Doh, so what I'm seeing in Kotor 2 is normal?
