 Moron. If you're not a fan of rock, I can see how you wouldn't like either band. If you're a fan of rock, I can't quite understand how you can't like the song One by Metallica. it... boggles my mind. How can any self-respecting rock fan NOT like that song or other early Metallica works? They're friggin pioneers in the rock genre!

Relax dude. Don't you know that it's cool and hip to hate everything that most people think is good?
Everyone knows that. It's cooler to hate on the haters though... everyone needs to realize that.

I found their cover of Another Brick in the Wall Parts 1-3 to be a painful travesty, and possibly an abomination against all that is good and pure in the world.
I liked about half of the first Korn album, but nothing else really did it for me.

But what's even cooler than haters hating on haters which is cooler than haters hating on something that everyone else likes is copying a hater who's hating on a hater who's hating on something that everyone else likes! Obviously!

Your only post in this thread prior to my quoting it was exactly what I quoted. You're calling both Metallica and Korn crappy. What's so hard to understand about that? If you didn't mean to call Metallica crappy and Korn crappy, then... why did you do so? What am I missing? You'll have to forgive me. I left my Super Secret fs5-post Decoder Ring at home this morning.

I respect that opinion. And I know most deep Pink Floyd fans feel the same way, I just liked them for some reason. I've always loved Jonathan Davis' voice. AWEsome.

And their first album is probably one of my favorite albums of all time. Definetely in the top 5. Which is saying something since I'm the one with all the favorite's, and can never have a single favorite anything.

ive listened to metallica, every album, for the 20 or so yrs theyve been around. you think no one used heavy guitar riffs and the same drum beat before metallica came along? you think they werent influenced by the bands they listened to when they were growing up? you honestly think they didnt incorporate and rehash those sounds into their own music?

seriously.

go back and listen to the artists from the past 100, 200, 1000 years or so. youll find that there are no new sounds or ideas when it comes to music. just all repackaged for each new buying genereation that hasnt heard it before. you may want to take your fan boy hat off before doing something stupid like declaring a band as revolutionary and unique.

God, their first album so rocked it. Just had to post that again.

Ballllllllltongue

mumble, ramble mmmmmm yaaaaaa.

I couldn't believe how cool mindless rambling and mumbling could be. And the bagpipes. Korn was my god when that album came out. Daddy is one of the greatest songs ever made, period.

it's a little known fact that beethoven actually started with heavy metal, then switched to classical after the whole metal thing didnt really catch on ;)

How fvcking stupid is this? Do you PLAY any musical instruments? You do realize there are only EIGHT fvcking basic notes (well, in the west anyway) don't you? There aren't many available octives for the human ear to hear, either. While music's been around for, oh say, all of recorded history, you'd think that *someone* at *some point* in history just *might* actually play the same note as some previous artist.

*gasp*

OH NOES.

Get real.

There's only so much you can do with music, man. :p It's not like someone's going to pop out of their grave and go "HEY I PLAYED THAT RIFF ON THE HIGH HATS ONCE SO NOBODY CAN EVER DO IT AGAIN EVAR" or something.

What I'm getting at is that people are bashing Metallica as if they're some tallentless band that can't write their own material are just stupid and don't know what real tallent is. You said something about listening to music that's 100, 200, and 1000 years old. Yeah, I'll just pull out my CD entitled "Music of the year 1005" and pop it in the CD player. Likewise, are you suggesting that nobody listen to anything but classical music because they were the only true pioneers in music and everybody who came after them is just a copycat?

I don't understand how you can say that Metallica is just some two-bit copycat band -especially if you've actually listened to their music which you say you allegedly have.

Besides, I've never had a Metallica poster. :p

did i bash metallica or korn? i dont think they are a 2bit copycat band. hell, i like both bands(early albums, anyway). we are basically saying the same thing, just from different angles. tool is my favorite band, and i can hear all different kinds of older bands and sound in their music. the same thing could be said of them that i said in this thread.

Besides, I've never had a Metallica poster. :p

Well since I got Dolly the Inflatable Sheep last year, a Metallica poster would naturally be the perfect gift, yes. :p
