Asians are crazy for being cheap as hell. $5.00 min order for Credit Cards, no soap in the bathroom, very little shrimp in the shrimp fried rice.

I have lot of stories about Asian businesses that try to be cheap and get their ass sued or forced to shut down by the health dept.

Do you have any stories about non Asian businesses in the same genre or does that not fit your racial profiling?

this behavior is totally limited to asian businesses

:thumbsdown😀:

Buffet owners/managers who are fed up with idiots that come in at 11am and stay until closing. The fact that normal people will be bursting at the seams within an hour doesn't mean that there are not plenty of others who want to pay for one meal and eat three.

Pretty much this - it's to protect themselves.

Wow 2 hours isn't much if you are with a bunch of friends. You want to be able to take your time eating, talk, and drink.

True, which is why management will and do use their discretion in my experience.

Really racist? How about black people that don't tip? Generalize much? You sound like an awesome person.

I've seen it being as short as an hour in Asia. Lots of people in cities, small restaurants, they need to kick people out to accommodate those waiting in long lines.

I eat at buffet once or twice a month. I pride myself on not being "greedy" and take only what I want. It is $7 so soup, egg roll, plate sushi and one of hot food is MORE than enough. Whatever I eat, I must excrete (or wear around my belly). Neither experience appeals to me so moderation is called for.
I have a choice in places to go. I want them to succeed.

Personally, I don't think I'd eat sushi from a place where it only costs $7 for their buffet.

The ~$10 chinese/sushi buffet restaurants serve generic and thoughtless food in general. Everytime we vacation, we easily find one and know exactly what to expect, but it's a meal. The sushi buffets that charge near $30 are where it's at. There's one for $22 here and we swore never to go to another regular japanese restaurant again. They're that legit.

Last time I went, I shat my p... Okay, not that bad, but I almost did. Probably effed up my cooking.

Not going back again because I'm concerned about ventilation and carbon monoxide from combustion -- I am pussy, yo.

^^ where you kids going these days for kbbq in (downtown) LA?

No longer a kid (ie have a little money now), so the options are

in the ayce camp...
oo-kook (my personal fave @ $25 because they accept reservations)
road to seoul (not my favorite but others here and elsewhere like it)
tahoe galbi used to be really popular until they closed and got replaced by...manna

in the non-ayce camp...
Eight KBBQ (aka palsaik) for multiple rounds of pork belly
Park's (the benchmark IMO even if it has been beloved patriot'd and really expensive if you're a heavy eater)
Kang Hodong Baekjeong is on fire (and has been), but no reservations = 2 hour lines = fuck you KHB

^^ Thanks! I think my buddies and i did make an attempt at KHB once; but yeah, once we saw that line, we all agreed we didn't want it that bad 😀

the active kids in my fraternity go to Moodaepo, so I guess that's where the poor broke college kids are going these days.

I feel the same way. I go out to a Chinese buffet near me, probably weekly or bi-weekly, and I generally only get one plate. It's cheap enough at lunchtime, and they have a good variety of food, it's worth it to me.

was it a manna? those guys take way too long to bring out your order so i don't feel bad at all if i'm there over 2 hours

I went to Gen this time. Nice hip decor. fast service. The food was just ok. Over an hour wait. Ive had better korean bbq.

F that. When I go to the buffet I eat as much as I can stuff down. If my stomach isn't paining and I am on the verge of vomiting, I didn't get my money worth.

They shouldn't advertise what they can't deliver.

I don't eat sushi buffet, and I only eat Korean bbq buffet if someone else is paying. If I'm paying, I go to a la carte Korean bbq restaurant. There's huge difference in the quality of the meats, banchan, and service between the buffet and regular bbq place.

I loved the buffet places when I was a student but now I'm older, I'm willing to pay the premium not to eat the sub-par and dirty buffet food.

$30 sushi buffets are no better. Just say no to any kind of sushi buffet. None are legit and all are bad.
