Kool new kit from SVC - convert any PSU to MODULAR!

dremel a hole in a PSU, avoid (potential deadly <-) shock, lose warranty, cut of all wires/de-solder....re-solder....mount/screw...ehrm....then i'd rather spend another $80 or so for a new PSU....i dont think its worth it. Maybe for the most extreme of extreme hardcore modders with too much time on their hands.. but IMHO too much involved there.

Doesn't look too hard, as long as you have a dremel tool. I don't see anything about soldering, though. Probably takes less than half an hour. Something to consider at least.

Pro's and Cons:

Pros:
1. Allows to replace PSU without having to disconnect from the peripherals especially when cables have been neatly tied or sleeved.
2. Looks Cool
3. ?????

Cons:
1. Too much work involved.
2. $25.00 setback
3. Don't replace PSU that often. Last time I did was 1998!
4. Increased chances of loose connections on both ends of cable instead of just 1 end.
5. More work and time involved if you have to replace PSU

Naw! I'll stick with the non=modular PSU's.

that final picture looks nice and all but i don't see where it says the kit comes with cable sleeving and heatshrink tubing. that'll cost you another $15-20. plus, then you'll have to make all the cables for the thing as well.

Don't have to make any cables - just put the modular connector on the cut ends of the original cables. I can get a Vantec UV sleeving kit that includes heatshrink tubing for less than $10. IAC, this is for those that enjoy DIY projects...

.bh.

Looks like a waste of money and a foolish thing to do if you ask me.

Just sleeve your PSU if its bothering you that bad.
