Just browsed through the ad online, it's on the last page(28) for zip 61761 (Bloomington/Normal, IL). Bestbuy's webpage does not show the monitor for the same price, I wonder if this means it is B&M only.

I've got the Cornea MP704 and I play games. Its a great monitor for the price. No ghosting in games either. Only complaint is that it makes some black too bright, but its not bad. Very small foot print also. I'd recommend it if you are in the market for an LCD. I just wished I waited to get my LCD, prices have come down so much! I bought the Cornea for $650 and now its $400 and that was 6 months ago!!!

I'm trying to decide if I want to get the Microtek from Walmart too.

This has the advantage that it's cheaper and it's black (would match PC).

The Microtek is bigger, has a faster response time and no rebates.

I'm not sure if I'd want $160 tied up in rebates for a month or two.

Compussr also has this but for a higher price, PM to BB's price, I think there's something like another 160.00 in rebates with them for an AR cost of 209.xx
Heftywallet has the details.

There are two BestBuy-only rebates currently valid ($100 and $160). But not sure if you can get both as UPC is required for either rabate. See http://www.wheresmyrebate.com/(lt1hv1nlhs12i3452rx2o145)/find2.aspx.

Picked this up at BestBuy today. They had about 6 or so at the Gaitherburg, MD store where I got it. Funny thing is the price in the store was better than the ad said. The initial price was $439 - $160 rebate = $279. It is large (tall) for a 17" LCD but the footprint is fairly small. Setup was easy and I was able to watch a DVD without any noticable ghosting. I haven't played any games on it yet. Seems like a great deal if the rebate comes through. Thanks for the post.

One Best Buy has the price at $439.99 but was sold out. I went to a second Best Buy and they had it listed for $459.00. Price matched it to first Best Buy and got it for $439.99. I think the sale is good only for Sunday & Monday.

So if you plan to do no gaming then I assume this monitor would be a good buy? My dad's asking about it ... I'm still not sold on LCD's, but he wanted me to check out and see if the deal was any good. From what I've found so far it's a decent monitor and not a bad buy at $300 (no compUSA in the area :().

I picked up this monitor today from Best Buy and overall it definately is a great bargain. As some have said, it has a rather large housing/bezel, but still it's a decent size. The picture is bright and the contrast is great.

On the negative side, the one I got has a "stuck" pixel on the lower left side of the monitor. It's blue and only shows up when the area around it is black (so I see it on the WinXP boot screen and when watching DVD's). Since there are more pixels on one of these than a 15" monitor, it's smaller and not really that big of a deal for me. But who knows, maybe I just got unlucky?

Also, the advertising for it is a bit deceiving. "Super-high 85Hz refresh rate." This may be true, but not when running the monitor at it's optimum refresh rate, which is 1280 x 1024. At this resolution, the highest refresh rate available is 60hz. For a CRT, that's terrible. For an LCD, that's do-able and only noticable when you move something around really fast on the screen (like moving a window around or scrolling fast through a webpage). Of course if you set it to a lower resolution, you can get the 85hz refresh rate, but then the screen will look a bit blurry from the anti-aliasing.

I also had purchased the Kogi 15" LCD from Best Buy a few weeks ago, and that monitor is flawless. Bundled with this 17" one I'd have to say that Kogi monitors are very high quality and a tremendous value.

You definately can't go by what you see on display at Best Buy. They hook up like 12 LCD's to one signal splitter, so the image quality is going to degrade big time. At home, it's quite a positive change.

$279.99 after rebate for a 17" LCD monitor is a no-brainer. The Best Buy I went to had like 8 left at 2pm and I was stunned to find even one left! Admittedly, $160.00 is a hefty rebate to be waiting on. It's the New Rochelle, NY address. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

So if the 60hz refresh rate doesn't bother you (and it probably shouldn't unless you are a heavy gamer and plan on running games at 1280 x 1024 -- which means you have a kick as* video card and can probably afford a more expensive LCD!), I'd highly recommend this Kogi monitor.

Remember, there are many LCD monitor brands out there, but in reality, only a few companies manufacture the actual LCD that goes inside of them. :)

Atrac - you are definitely "on track". ;)

As stated earlier, there are better LCD panels out there but $300 for a 17" LCD panel is a real bargain. The only negative that I can see in the deal is the rebate amount which is steep.

You raise a valid point regarding the brightness of Kogi. I compared it to the Microtek and Envision and it was noticeably brighter and wasn't even set at maximum. In fact, I dimmed mine down a few notches from the default setting. If I were needing another 17"LCD panel, I would have no reservation at all about buying another Kogi at this price.

I bought this on Saturday at BB and then went in to BB on Sunday to PM. I could only find one on Saturday and none on Sunday. I used the 10% BB coupon from Sports Illustrated and the cashier never questioned me. $395(after 10%) - $160 = $235. Not bad.

I have always got my CUSA rebates, knock on wood. I just received a $100 rebate for a cell phone I bought from them. But I bought the monitor at BB because I could return it without any fee within 14 days. CUSA charges a 15% open box restocking fee.

If you have WinXP, make sure you turn on ClearType from Microsoft, it's like night and day.

The price goes up by $50 on Jan. 21. According to the weekely ad, there was a $50 instant rebate for Jan 19-20. The $160 rebate is still good for the rest of the week according to the rebate page at bestbuy.com. I wish I had the money for this right now as my current monitor has a vertical green streak on the screen.
