Koenigsegg CCR "topples" world speed record

It doesn't sound that impressive for some reason.
The 1993 McLaren F1 held the record for the world?s fastest production automobile for 12 years (232.5mph ). It?s replacement, 9ff?s Porsche GT2, lasted just over a month (241.1). On Monday, legendary driver Loris Bicocchi pushed a Swedish-made Koenigsegg CCR to 242.42mph at Italy?s Nardo test track. While delighted with the news, company owner Christian von Koenigsegg was quick to point out that Nardo Prototipo is a circular test track; he reckons the CCR would top out at 247 in a straight line.

Well it could be topless, the roof comes off like a F50. The CC is one sexy looking car when it's topless. 😉

The Koenigsegg is more powerful, lighter, and more aerodynamic than the McLaren. I only wonder why they still haven't taken it somewhere with enough straight-line distance to find out how fast it's really capable of going. I'm still not 100% sold on its looks, but I can certainly handle them in light of the performance. The doors alone are quite remarkable.

I could have sworn that the faster McLaren F1 (Two models, about 10 of 100 or so had the 690bhp motor over the 630 one) toped out at about 250, and that it was generally accepted that even 250 was gearbox-limited.

Just purchase the real car. It lists for a mere $750,000.

EDIT: You would think that for such a sticker price they could make the interior look at least halfway decent.

What's considered "official" is quite confusing.

Thats the way all car doors should open.... no more dings into the door when people open theirs up onto your car.
