(AP)-(ROCHESTER, N.Y.)-The Eastman Kodak Co. is voluntarily recalling some 75,000 digital cameras sold worldwide because a manufacturing defect could give users an electrical shock.

Kodak said the recall only includes DC5000 digital camera. That particular model was sold nationwide from June 2000 through last month at a retail price of between $600 and $700.

The company received a dozen reports of customers who got an electrical shock while changing batteries, plugging in the memory card or USB computer cable. There were no reports of serious injury.

Kodak reported the problem to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and agreed to the recall.

If you have a Kodak DC 5000 Zoom Digital Camera, the company advised you to stop using it and contact Kodak.

The company will cover the cost of inspection, any necessary repair and shipping to and from repair centers.

Contact Kodak at(888)793-2977 between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST Monday through Friday for more information.

The cameras have the DC5000 model number on the front of the camera at the bottom right-hand corner. A plate on the bottom of the camera reads ``KJCAA'' followed by an eight-digit serial number, ranging from 01800001 through 11700825.

That is one of the more pressing problems I have heard of with a piece of electronics in quite a while. Talk about a product that bites you in the ass. =)

Electric shock? Wow, these things would probably turn you into a crisp with their powerful AA batteries. :p

Do you just need to send the camera back? ie. you dont have to send the accessories like cables back right?

On the website it asked you to register and then Kodak will send you something to send the camera back in... Do they send you packaging material or do you have to buy those and pack the camera yourself?

Sorry for the questions but this will be the first time I send something back for repairs...
