Saw this on clearance in my local area. I guess I can use $30 off $150 to bring this down to $119.99.....what do you guys think? this camera doesn't have good review in dpreview.com so I am a little hesitated to get this camera. Considering that I will be taking lots of pic next month(on a trip to NY) I am weighing whether I should spend some $40 on developing the films or just buy this camera and be done with 35mm camera. What do u guys think?

My wife owns the Kodak DX3700 which we got on sale for $169 at Circuit City B&M.

It's an ok entry level digicam, it does beat 35mm but barely. Oh one thing which REALLY sucks about the DX3700 is the type of media it accepts MMC/SD only, no CF or even SM that bites BIG TIME!

I'm assuming that you're going to buy from Staples, I would instead suggest looking at the Olympus D380, HP 318 or Fuji Finepix A201 for around $159.99 after $40 off $200 coupon with free shipping.

Staples.com digicams

that and the stupid MMC/SD media which really pisses me off to no end!

I know it's 3 megapixel but most people take digicam picts only to display online, NOT to print out in photo quality pictures.

No, this is from my local office depot. Staple has it for $250. I know about that MMC/SD stuff, but if this is a good format maybe it will last and become popular. How about the battery life? I heard horrible things about how this camera eats battery....what do u think?

Keep looking around, my local Staples had a HP315 (not great I know) for $85 minus a 10off75 coupon for a $75 2.1 MP cam :D

It will accept relatively cheap CF cards, and if it ever gets dropped or broken, I wont be out a fortune.

My local ODs are running the Olympus D-570 on clearance at around 230 or so. Maybe you can find an open box item or something.

Quite a few cam companies are changing models right now, so there will be some deals popping up here and there for the sharp Ferengi :)

But the purpose of digital zoom and optical zoom are the same right? I mean..what's the difference if I can get 3x digtal instead of 3x optical?

IIRC, digital interpolates the pixels and optical actually magnifies the image.

optical beats digital any day of the week and twice on sunday.

Optical zoom is actually the camera lens zooming, much sharper. Digital zoom is just the software zooming, usually fuzzy results.

I got it. Thanks for clarifying. So I guess even at this insane price I should still restrain myself and wait for better deal.
It hurts my feeling when i know I can get this camera for the lowest price on earth and still reject the offer.

Go with Sluggo's recommendations unless you want to REGRET buying this digicam like I did.

I only keep it because my wife likes it :(

Yeah, its crappy, but that's the catch-22. There's a reason it's on sale for so cheap...

Digital zoom is worthless, and anything besides Compact Flash/ Smart Media is probably going nowhere.

When I said I got it, I mean to say I got the idea you guys were trying to tell me. I didn't get the camera..sorry, if that creates confusion.
