What to do?
StealingBuys, call them back and ask them what the right part number is, check it against the one you asked for, if it is different, then post it here.

I also have noticed a little shimmer or flicker. I assume that is natural for this cheap cam.

Picked up the last one at Outer Loop store in Louisville, KY. The tag showed $109.00 but I asked the sales clerk to scan it and, presto!, rang-up $59.99! Poor sales guy was mad!!!! He said if he knew, he'd buy few, LOL!!!

Nah... I called... told him I bought the 3200, said I want free lens cap... CSR says the 3200 never had a lens cap made for it and that Kodak had been sending out a different lens cap that would damage the lens and won't send it to me...

I didn't even tell him what part number I wanted!

Not picking on you, what CSR said sound fishy to me. The part about damaging the lense. I say if the cap I get fits over the LARGE collar that the lense is mounted in, it should be ok. If it is something diff, then I find something that will fit. A $249 camera w/o a lense cap is a joke. Lense kits/adaptors for the DC215 reportedly fit. They are/were selling that lens cap to people when they called for a free one. Then reports of pissy CSR's, (the "memo"?) and people being told "no free caps". Now CSR's say "I'm doing you a favor by saying no.

On a lighter note, check out these pictures with DC 3200 I found online.

I've had this camerea since like Dec 2000, so I'm pretty familar with what it does and doesn't do well.

It is great for taking pictures outside in sunshine. Indoor pictures with plenty of natural light are also fine. It's challanges are close pictures using the flash. One trick I've learned is to use a piece of white copier paper over the flash if I'm gonna be taking a close-up. That really works well to diffuse the strong flash and makes the picture OK. If you want to play around, use some different coloured paper and it tints the picture, like a pink or red paper.

Here's another site with user reviews and tons of user-submited sample photos. Link

And you need to get some CF cards and a reader. I'm had great success using Lexar USB CF that come with their cord that plugs right into a USB port. It identifies the card as another drive and you can just copy or move the picture files to another drive just like that.

Have fun with your camereas.

areohbe: You cannot return the camera, because:

"Due to current manufacturing methods of active matrix display panels, a certain number of sub-pixel anomalies (a pixel stuck on or off) are acceptable. Because the manufacturing yield of perfect active matrix panels is very low, displays may have some sub-pixels that are either always on or always off. The cost of accepting only perfect displays could nearly double the price of a portable computer using an LCD screen. This is true of all portable computers using LCD technology."

Just kidding. :)

ive got a few questions pertaining to the compact flash stuff:
first i am tryin to decide between a 64mb and 128mb card, what is the amount of pictures i can take with those, with the different quality levels, i assume that the 128mb is double the 64mb one ;)

also, how is the quality/speed of the different brands, so far i have seen generic stuff, KINGSTON TECHNOLOGY ,Mr. FLASH USA , SANDISK , and some others, are there any articles/reviews, or what are your personal opinions, alot of people say sandisk is very slow....?

Spaceman,

I've had real good success with Lexar compact flash. One benefit with their brand is that they include a Jumpshot USB cable that eliminates the need to buy a seperate USB CF reader, since this cable attaches to your USB port and shows up as a new drive and you can just move the pic files to another drive.

It's always worked good for me and the Lexar prices are very compative with other brands as well.

u could probably fit 3 pictures at highest quality per meg:p they are 300k each about. and don't kid yourself, the lower quality modes are basically useless:p
