I think this Laker team is going to be a lot better than last year's. Lots of teamwork, 4 players scored double digits. Mihm had a career high game @ 23 points and 12 rebounds.

If they can get their turnovers under control they're going to be a really tough team to beat and a lot more fun to watch since they're playing a faster paced game.

Whats everyone else's thoughts?

i watched the game last night and was really impressed. lakers will have rebounding problems all year it seems, but offensively everything seemed to click.

I think I'll take you up if you want to bet on it. No way this team makes it to the finals.

Mihm got lots of shots to try to appease the Shaq fans. Kobe is a creep, but he's not stupid. Of course, when he needed to get his points, he stopped passing and made sure he filled up his scoring column.

Caron Butler looked good. That guard Brown looked horrible.
Denver looked awful. Let's see how they do tonight against Utah.

The Lakers looked good because the Nuggets didn't. The first half was horrendeous!! If the Lakers play like they did in the 2nd half, they're going to be in a lot of trouble this year.

Tierre Brown looked bad and I'm not sold on Chucky Atkins. Maybe Kobe should play the 1 guard and let all those small forwards start the game.

The Lakers have too many SF's. Caron Butler, Deavan George, Luke Walton, Jumaine Jones, and Odom's natural position is SF.

Lakers will do just fine, they are a deep team now 1 to 15. They still have 3 key players on the injured list. The one problem I see is finding time for all the players. Now only if Malone can come back.

F Kobe.

He proved last night what a loser he really is. If he can feed a mediocre Mihm the ball all night for great shots, he could have doubled that last year with the best center in the game.

Screw him. I, like lots of long time die-hard Lakers fans across the country, will never like the Lakers again while he's on the team. He's a loser, immature, and the reason why the Lakers lost last year.

Anyone know if there is a torrent for nba games? Just have basic basic cable here no TNT or espn :( I'm already paying $60+ for basic and broadband ... can't afford anymore for extended cable ...

i think it was more of denver sucking than LA playing well. I mean Mihm was what determined the game...MIHM! My God, if you can't cover mihm, then you don't deserve to win.

But the denver offense was horrible. Absolutely horrible. Wasn't because of great defense...they were just horrible. It will be interesting to see how the lakers play tonight again the Jazz

I think Shaq wa the *real* reason the Lakers lost last year. I'll admit, I'm a Kobe fan. He has a lot of talent and he can really play the game. Shaq is really really lazy, he slowed the Laker's offense to a crawl when he played (since it was in Shaq's best interest to have a slow game). Shaq isn't a great ballplayer. He's just big and coordinated, he is the NBA's version of a huge tailback in football. Just pound the ball and hope you win.

Also, don't forget that Shaq was in the middle of two of the greatest intra-squad rivalries in the past 10 years. Anyone remember Penny?

The Laker's game showed a lot more finesse last night. Sure, they made some mistakes and Denver didn't play all that well. But, as Supa said they have 3 people injured and they had a lot of new guys playing roles. They did a great job with what they had and Kobe played like a leader.

Lakers have a lot more athleticism IMO than last year, but that game, denver just looked like complete shiat. They were standing around, jacking up the first open look. No cutting, no fast break, they looked way overmatched - and I dont think thats a credit to the Lakers. Will be interesting to see how they shape up against some of the elite teams in the west. As for denver, they have a ton of talent, hopefully they can get it together and stop embarrassing themselves. Christ, it looked like one my IM games...

Wait until the Lakers play the Rockets, Pacers, Spurs, and Pistons... then we'll see what the real deal is. Denver is not going to do much, especially since they lost Leonard for the season with the torn Achilles.

(I'm a die hard Laker fan too!!)

I saw the game too. I must admit, they do look ready and run a faster game. Should be another good year of boozin' and watching these games :)

people always underestimate Utah. they play defense, have a great coach, and have players who know their role.

the Lakers aren't as bad as people predicted, but Utah is giving them a whooping right now.

all you lakers/kobe haters can go to hell. you all think the lakers will suck, but do you think us real lakers fans care what you think? most of you hating on the lakers don't even like the nba or have a favorite team, you all just like to hate on the lakers.

anyways, i don't think they'll win as many games, but they'll be a hell of a lot more fun to watch and will have a chance at playoffs.

utah is good for one reason, jerry sloan. he should've won the COTY award last year.

lol.

tonight and the rest of the season:
kobe scores. lakers lose. [update]by 26[/update]

if you think this is only going to happen when the lakers play the jazz, you're on crack

what's the deal with odom? i thought he was supposed to be good. He's going to start hitting the bong again soon if this stuff keeps up.

why quote me if what you're saying has no relevance to what i said?

as for odom, simply put, he's a good player that hasn't found his place in the offense.

anyhow, lakers fans like you are the reason people hate on the lakers so much. when the lakers win, you're always on the wagon. when they lose, you're talking trash or finding another team to cheer for. do us real lakers fans a favor and find another team to cheer for.
