Kobe scores 34 as Lakers beat the Blazers 91-79

Link to full story.

Kobe went 12-26 from the floor and an almost perfect 10-11 from the line. He got into his game early and dished out a team-leading 6 assists as the Lakers in a contest that was a lot closer than the final score would tell...

Anyhow, I think Kobe's the best player in the game right now and the Lakers will win their 3rd straight title come finals time. 2nd place in each category goes to Shaquille O'Neal and the Dallas Mavericks, respectively.

Your thoughts?

it was an awesome game..
however i hated the one in between with the suns i believe that they lost 97 to 91 or something like that.

I am already buying my laker flag so I can use it when the time comes.. and not be gouged for it when they do win.. 🙂

TGG

I've flown a Laker flag (It's actually more like a handkerchief) in my car window as long as I've been able to drive...It cost me a buck since I got it between the Magic years and the Shaq years 🙂

I'd like to see Dallas beat the Lakers....I like watching Dirk Nowitski play. A 7 footer hoisting 3's and taking guys off the dribble!?! Awesome.

Go Pistons in the east!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Defense wins championships, baybee 😀 But we still not don't get any respect.... 🙁

<< what happend to the Kobe stopper? (Ruben Patterson) >>

People have had great games against him but there's no real consistent solution to guarding someone like Kobe 🙂

man, how the HELL did yall get Corliss Williamson to play some actual ball?! I mean shoot, in all his years in Sac i had NEVER seen him play with as much emotion as he does with the Pistons. When he went up strong against Jermaine O Neal on that crazy play where he threw the ball, and the play before it where he skied high hit that dunk over some guy, man that was amazing. I thought it was a different player. Back here in Sac, in the last year he was here, they used to call him Scoreless Williamson!

i remember the nickname scoreless.....

but hey, we deserve some breaks:

Sean Elliott was great in S.A., came to us and sucked, and then went back to S.A. and was great.
we traded away Bonzi Wwells and he rocks now
Aaron Mckie was marginal on our team, and it intergral in philly
Allan Houston leaves us just before becoming a star
Grant Hill left us (but we got ben wallace, and grant's barely played in orlando, so we got the better side of that one 🙂)

don't forget how stackhouse has blossomed after being side by side with Iverson in Philly.

Oh man, now that i think about it, no wonder Stackhouse wanted out of Philly. Could you imagine two players taking EVERY SHOT for a team in a game? Well, it would have happened no doubt with the back court of Stackhouse and Iverson!

Bah, I think the Blazers will be a VERY good opponent come playoff time. This game, Pippen was just having a horrible night, he has to do better next time (cant shoot much worse than he was =). And the fact that they could keep the game that close through 3 periods with out their main scorer (Wallace) shows they have a good chance of beating them in the futor.
Blazers beat the lakers with out shaq, Lakers beat the blazers with out 'Sheed...should be fun to watch them both healthy 🙂\

Oh yeah, Ruben Patterson did a pretty good job on Kobe when they played him...made kobe go 2 for 6 I think, somthin like that. Pippen was on Kobe most of the game.

The LA Fakers are exactly what is wrong with the NBA (just like the bulls were during their glory years): All you need is 2 or 3 superstars on your team in order to win championships (aka having lots of money to pay the blue chip players). And how boring is it to have 1 team constantly win championships year after year? Quite frankly, i think its refreshing to see a team like the Patriots (who has the 3rd lowest payroll in the NFL) win it all using selfless teamwork to win instead of relying on a few key overpaid superstars. That and college hoops is always exciting and unpredictable, unlike another basketball association we all love to hate 🙂

Not true at all. When the Lakers stepped up their D, they finally won their titles.

Stockton and Malone are future Hall of Fames, and they never won 😉
