Overrated? No.

All the media and nba or whatever has been trying to find the "Jordan #2" ever since Jordan retired.

In my opinion, Kobe is the only thing remotely close to Jordan.

It's simple as that.

p/s: I am a big Rockets fan in case anyone wondering.

i think when all is said and done, LeBron will be damn close

still not MJ, but close

I'm really impressed by Lebron's play this year.

However, the more i saw him play, the less he remind me of Jordan. Their style and approach of the game is very different (James and Jordan), with that being said, i think James can be a great great players and have a huge impact to the game for years to come.

The only thing about Lebron James that reminds me of Jordan is the number 23. :)

you have a point about style but i am referring to pure talent and skill.

btw, i'm a pure and utter laker hater and i must say kobe is not the most overrated player in NBA history but even right now he isnt the best player in the nba. i personally dislike kobe because i think at times he can be selfish and does things that hurts the team like take bad shots

You have to respect Kobe, he's most definitely good. If you rate him as the best player in the NBA right now then yeah, he's over rated.

He's one of the 3 guys I'd give the ball to to take the winning shot w/ 10 seconds left. (Bibby and McGrady being the others.)

really? the way i look at it, when the game is on the line i want a big man to take the shot because it is a higher percentage shot . i put in the hands of Duncan or Garnett (not Shaq cuz he will get fouled)

Not Duncan, he's a bad foul shooter too. I'd maybe give it to Garnett but kobe can create his own shot better.

if its a tie game, he will definately nail 1 or 2

Overrated my ass. You want overrated - look no further than Vince Carter.

hush your mouth... VC came back this year.
You want to talk about overrated? Lets talk Penny Hardaway, or maybe Grant Hill.

c'mon. Penny is NEVER in the news or spotlight and hill is injured, nothing he can do about that

Penny WAS in the news ALL the freakin' time. Don't you remember the little Penny doll?

It doesn't matter if grant was injured, every year the magic wait for him to come back and every year he sits on the pine collecting his MILLIONS.

Ohter guys would come back faster with an amputated limb for god's sake.

He played 73 games this year... That's pretty damn good for the amount of injuries he had.

I think you couldn't expect a better performance from Kobe consider the pressure and distractions he's been under all year. You gotta give it to him.

yes he is a great performer and all but not on the jordan level. keep in mind that jordan never had a Shaq on his team, and pippen was never close to being as dominate as shaq is

Definitely not overrated. Don't think it's possible to be overrated as one of, if not the best player in the league. Even stats aside it's impossible to quantify his immense contribution as a clutch player.

i thought maurice taylor was pretty overrated, but whenever i go to a rocket's game he always seems to light it up.

it's easy to hate kobe, he's got such an attitude. granted it's not good to be as boring as tim duncan, but kobe just looks and acts like a dick most of the time.

but he's damn good at the game.

Kobe isn't over-rated. People just hate him because there are so many Laker haters out there.

Over-rated players : Latrell Sprewell, Alan Houston, Vince Carter, Steve Francis, Karl Malone

I think GP's defense is over-rated. He no longer guards his opponents like he used to guard them. I'm also wonder why people keep employing that drunken bastard they call Vin Baker. He sucks and he's damn expensive to have on a team.

He's not as bad as Steve Francis. That guy is always showboating!

i wouldnt care if Duncan was boring since he is the MVP

also, its better to be "boring" than cause distractions to the team. its quite refreshing to see that someone doesnt demand so much attention all the time. he lets his game do the talking for him

yeah but... to me basketball is no more than entertainment. and watching a big guy make a big play and then hunch his shoulders and look at the floor while he jogs back down the court isn't that entertaining. except for when it's part of beating the lakers ;)

Kobe to the lakers is what pippen was to the bulls.

Yes they are good, but without Jordan/Shaq they would not be the stars they are.

i see your point, but i think there is too much flash in the NBA as is so it doesnt bother me when a person doesnt do it

oh, and you will be entertained in round 2 of the western conference playoffs ;)

Don't think there's any way to prove whether he's the best or not. Noone in the league is a Jordan-esque head-and-shoulders above the rest.

OMG Mike Dunleavy Jr. !!! Hey but Boozer tore it up this season and I hope he wins "Most Improved Player" although I have a feeling Zach Randolph will get the honor.

Jay Williams is way over-rated. He couldn't even shoot free throws as a PG.
